He, like pretty much everyone else is a placeholder in the team early on. His numbers when played inside are pretty good and this is what I'll be watching through the pre-season to see what direction Voss takes with the Blues.
More about structure, he may end up someone like Will Day around that price range.

These rookie ruck teams always look so good until you look closely and see they're rookie ruck teams. It's to early in the season for an argument around anything other than Gawn/Grundy starting R1/R2 but I certainly like to plan these 2 as my starting rucks as it's much easier to amend the team if a rookie like Preuss shows their hand.
I think for me to go a rookie at R2 I'd need a solid rookie R3 option along with a reliable F/R option. I am very much safety Sam when it come to rucks.

Early days but v0.1:
B: Ridley, Whitfield, Sicily, Day, Milera, Aleer (Gould, Dean)
M: Macrae, Oliver, Fyfe, Neale, Constable, Horne-Francis, Daicos, Hobbs (Sinn, Johnson, Clark)

Will Day is my breakout pick. Broke the ton twice in five games last year. Will simply be a superstar off half back or the wing.

I think I’m just gonna stick to my usual SC preferences and see how we go. Personally, I favour fallen premiums, high draft pick breakout prospects, high scoring potential (but possibly injury prone) types, Heeney and hate starting players after a breakout year.
This means Whitfield, Neale, Dunkley, Duncan, Treloar, Rowell and Heeney.
Possibly Darcy if we use the high scoring potential but injury prone card but he could also be one I should avoid possibly considering I hate starting players after a breakout - needs some more thought.

Plenty of injury risk in there, I love the balls to wall approach but I'd be looking for a couple of top tier premiums just to underpin the team and have confidence that more than likely they'll be there from round 1 to 23. Oliver and Macrae are really the only two you could put your hand on your heart and say this, Ridley maybe but he's role dependent regarding scoring ability, Gawn probably another. Just a lot of risk.Wil Day I like also but when I look at the Hawks defensive/wing line they're pretty much all capable of good SC scores - I just need to be sure the consistency will be there with any Hawks player I choose rather tha big scores being spread over multiple players week in week out.
Differently gone all out in the fwds. I’ve done the opposite and filled the defence. Like it though.

Mid-late December team for the moment.
Twelve locks for mine: Lloyd, Whitfield, Macrae, Oliver, Walsh, Neale, Gawn, Grundy, Dunkley, Treloar, Butters and Cogs.
Rest will depend on pre-season;
Sicily ahead of Hewett for now, but will keep an eye on role for him. May get a 4th non-rookie defender in too depending what happens in other parts of the field.
Rowell, Berry, Constable, Gresham and Brodie are all wait and see.
Picking Daicos ahead of JHF at this point: however could easily end up with both if one of those names above doesn't come up.

I am going to call it early and think this structure will be the way to go, 4 premium mids not 5. Feels like a lot of high quality rookies and 2-3 year players in the midfield, albeit expensive levels of $200k or so. Forward rookies typically disappoint and defender rookies rarely turn up.
In pursuit of premiums last year I let a few lower quality rookies in that were fillers such as GC 17 year old or Bulldogs little forward. Given COVID impact this year the depth of rookies playing could be less and hopefully we see a few more mature age players get a gig.
Tempted to fill the side with rookies and midpricers and plenty of cash left over. Then when teams selected start to cull and add premiums. Typically we come from both sides and it is in the middle we make variations, not sure this leads to the optimal outcome. Daniher was in and out last year and whilst I started with Impey it feels like we are best keeping these players rather than sacrificing to get a 450k player to a premium, which often leads to 1-2 more cuts (to low quality rookies).

D: Looks pretty good to me! Day is a risk if he plays wing (they usually score worse than half-backs), but has good upside. I'd also be wary of where Milera plays, in case they chuck him forward again.
M: Don't think Fyfe is worth the risk - he just always misses a few games. There are also so many good topline mids to choose from, or even another topline defender like Lloyd.
R: Witts is an interesting pick. At 380k, I think he'll struggle to make enough money at his price. Preuss is a lot money on the bench - I think you'd be better off going a 102k ruck and then upgrading to someone like Darcy.
F: Looks good!

My current thoughts:
Lloyd - Usually prefer not to pick the highest priced players, because starting with one extra cheaper premium saves a trade. But Lloyd is potentially underpriced with Dawson leaving, given he took some kick-ins last year. Uber durable.
Ridley - Expect him to average 100 again.
Short - See above. Maybe even slightly discounted with Houli retiring, since he also took some kick-ins. And Short is very durable.
Whitfield - I think he's incredible value. Even if he gets injured, he'd still only need to average ~100 to be worth picking, and I think that's pretty likely given his scoring history.
Sicily - Unless there's a clear sign he's playing forward, I think he should average 95-100 again.
Oliver - Super safe 125 average.
Bont - Bit cheaper than some of the other top premiums, but still a top 8 mid (see my comments about Lloyd).
Parish - Taking out his first two games when he didn't play mid, his average is 118, so he's a bit underpriced.
Neale - Lock!
Berry - Seems likely he'll keep playing midfield, so I think it's hard to see him averaging less than 80 if he's fit.
Horne Francis/Erasmus - Placeholders for whoever looks most likely to get time in the midfield or off half-back. But Horne-Francis might be worth picking even if he's forward after averaging 88 in the SANFL.
Darcy - Slight injury risk, but he kept playing though most of them. Think he could go 130+ through natural progression.
Grundy - Nice and durable, and I think form is often quite misleading unless someone has changed position (Think Neale 2019).
Dunkley - Just dominates when he's fit, so I think the potential upside is stronger than the potential downside. Was playing mostly forward at the start of the year and still averaged 130.
Butters - Lock if he's playing mid.
Gresham - A 50/50 pick. I think he'll probably average about 80, but he could even be a keeper if he plays midfield. Pretty injury prone, but not as bad as Milera.

Good to be back! First attempt at a team is very mid pricery but it is silly season!
Lloyd - Have never started him before and I still think Horse one day works out he's ****, they have better ball movers waiting in the wings and he ends up playing twos but with Dawson gone that time isn't now.
Think you can throw a blanket over alot of the guys from 92-100 av but I really like 3 from this bracket:
Short - Houli gone for good, he's the main man back there for the next 5 years.
Dale - Blossomed in his first year in the role and should only get better.
Maynard - Rumours of the midfield move look to have some substance behind them. Look what Mills/Laird did in the role last year.
Hewett - Watching very very closely. If he's not tagging he's a lock for me. I see him as an upgrade on Matt Kennedy and when given the role Kennedy scored extremely well, confirming my thoughts that the blues gameplan can support a number of SC relevant mids. The game he played in the EF also sticks out in my mind. Plays very similar gamestyle to how I play so do have a soft spot for him.
Steele /Touk - need no introduction. absolute workhorses that constantly will themself to every single contest.
Trac - We saw what he did in the back half of the year with a fit BBB. Tank continues to develop. can see him going 125-130 and I dont say that lightly.
Neale - Full preseason he's a lock. Not sure he gets back to 130, think 112-117 is more realistic but still a big win for 540.
Serong - Normally hate picking break out mids but he ticks so many boxes. Has never had an issue finding inside ball, no Cerra means a heap more outside aswell. Late in the season really showed what he could do. Longmuire came out post season and said wanted to hold him back earlier in the year and develop the defensive side of his game. Zero threat of a tag, super durable, 3rd year, unreal underage numbers, ticks so many boxes to go 100-105.
Berry - Has apparently come back in ripping nick and training the house down. Was progressing every season before the injury (62-80-85-97).
Cogs - Hate the pick, but very low downside with DPP.
Big O - Thought he'd fly under the radar alot more, seems everyone on here talking about him, will be interesting to see his ownership % when SC opens. My only worry was Fort playing early until Hipwood is back but looks like he's ahead of schedule. Ticks alot of the ruck progression boxes, his time to spike is now.
Ladhams - Interesting pick, haven't really seen him discussed much. I think he's been recruited with an eye for now rather than the future more than appears. Hickeys durability has traditionally been awful and I'm willing to treat it as an abberation rather than the mean. Even if they do play together, I think Ladhams gets alot bigger ruck split than what he was previously getting so can see improvement regardless of that 76 average. If Hickey does get injured, a number 1 ruck with his scoring power and ability around the ground basically turns into a Top 3 fwd.
Have zero interest in Darcy/Gawn.
Heeney - Ah welcome back old friend. I've heard this narrative before, surely it finally works this time? Fool me once shame on you....
Butters - Didnt start him last year so has zero burn factor. I see so much upside for a guy whose side is screaming for some pace and x factor through that midfield (especially after the PF performance).
Rioli - Made a mental note to self at the end of 2020 that im picking every out of position HBF possible. Welcome.
Coleman - As above. Think he has better fantasy prospects, looked electric in finals and Lions are desperate for some support for Rich. Lock.

Backs:
Ridley - Reckon Kelly coming in releases him from having to mind the dangerous small forwards (Greene, Papley, etc) which I saw as the main impact to the sweet intercepting role he had. Can see him getting back to really reliable scoring and expecting his price to not fluctuate too wildly meaning he's a sensible starting option.
Daniel - Love this bloke! Not sure if I'm picking him cause I love him though or whether he's a genuinely good SC option. Scored 90+ in 15/21 games, but some of the sub 90 scores were awful. Probably one I'll debate a little over the off season and likely one of the first to be changed if a better option presents.
Rioli - If (as expected) he lands the half back role then I can see him being a bargain. We saw how well that role translates to SC scoring (aka, Hall last year) and think Rioli has the skills to make the most of it. If the pre-season games show the role is there then he's a lock for mine.
Midfield:
Macrae/Steele/Miller/Walsh - Lumping these 4 together as I'm hoping collectively they land comfortably in the top 8 mids. All are consistent, have a high ceiling, and provide decent VC/C options across the year.
Neale - Cheap, if he finds his form it's the bargain for the decade! Will be in most teams so is pretty risk free and a no brainer.
Berry - Not sold, but could be well underpriced so he's in for now.
Rucks:
Darcy - Durability is my only worry, otherwise I think he's primed to be the #1 scoring ruck. Will watch to see how his preseason conditioning looks but all things being equal he seems like a strong option this season.
Big O - Prefer Grundy but fell slightly short so he's in for now. If I free up enough cash from other changes then he'll likely become Grundy.. or if Witts looks like a must have then he'll go down to him.
Forwards:
Dunkley - Elite scorer while fit, probably misses games but think his ceiling is so high he's worth it.
Duncan - Pretty consistent and a no brainer as a forward. Will be available cheaper at some stage but don't think it's worth holding out for that and missing the early scoring!
Butters - Lockity lock if he's in the midfield! Love the kid, and reckon he could be a top 3-4 forward if the role is there. Can see Boak shifting out of the midfield slightly more this year too so the minutes will be there.
Coniglio - It's all been said - no brainer at that price.
Other notes:
- Currently have $55k in the bank
- Zero thought has gone into the rookies so if there are any obvious ones missing I'll scoop them up later in the preseason

I don't have any issue with the players you have picked but not sure how feasible it will be to have your current defensive structure with 2 premiums /1 mid pricer & 3 rookies starting on the field.
Might be worth considering starting just 1 of Dunkley/Duncan & replace one with Gresham/Coleman for example to give you the funds to upgrade one of the defensive rookies to Sicily possibly as an idea.
