Langer became one the most consistent batsman in the Australian line-up. Since 2000, he scored 6994 runs at an average of 48.17. Out of his 23 Test centuries, 18 came during this period.

He formed a terrific opening partnership with Matthew Hayden, as more often than not, they gave the team solid starts. Langer was an integral part of the Australian Test team that dominated world cricket in the 2000s.

For mine, him & Hayden open - their record together absolutely outstanding.

Can't disagree about Langer , runs on the board (literally) and opening partnership with Hayden was superb.

9 out of 11 the same

It's funny when you talk about all time XI's (and obviously we get drawn to players we have watched over the years) when I was in the West Indies in 2008 talking to the old timers over some Red Stripe and Rum (that nearly killed a Australian cricket tourist several times) , it was a sign of "weakness" apparently to have coke in rum.

I would pick my all time WI XI and naturally include Lara & Sir Viv.

They would smile and laugh and say "no maan" let me tell you about Headley , Kanhai , Sobers and the 3 W's etc etc

No room for Lara 😂 , no room for Viv 😂

Can I least have Greendidge & Haynes ?

Although the Jamaican's had different views to the Antiguan's and the Barbados.

Still never learnt to drink rum like a West Indian , thank god.

Bloody lethal.

@Woosie

We need Woosie's Dads view on our Australian Test XI discussion.

Be interesting if he includes players from the 40's - 60's
Dad (82) - Australian best XI with Bradman.
I'll let you know who he replaces the Don with. He might come back and say "Why would you replace the Don"

Sounds like the English team are getting tested for Covid and aren't at the ground yet. Probably hoping for a positive result based on their form! :p

Edit: Just given the all clear, better luck tomorrow! :)

I can just see it now...

The year is 2037-38. James Anderson has been named for his tenth Ashes tour. Anderson begs the selectors not to pick him, and he has to be sedated and restrained on the flight over, but he arrives with the squad.

Later it emerges that the ECB have employed a hypnotist to convince Anderson every day of the series that he is actually bowling at Old Trafford. Despite these extreme measures, he takes 16 wickets at 27, extending his lead as the highest Test wicket taker of all time, and is England's best bowler by a distance.

Australia win the series 5-0.
