v0.3
B: Lloyd, Whitfield, Bramble, Day, Aleer, Gould (Kelly, Dean)
M: Macrae, Oliver, Walsh, Guthrie, Neale, Constable, Horne-Francis, Daicos (Johnson, Clark, Velente)
R:Gawn, Reeves (Preuss)
F: Duncan, Treloar, Taranto, Coniglio, Hollands, De Koning (J.Clarke, Peris)

Playing with different structures:

B: I could take Bramble up to someone and Day down to Milera for example. But I just think Bramble an Day; if both can stay fit; will majorly break out this year. Especially with the faster game plan of Mitchell.

M: Fairly standard. Would be nice to squeeze Hobbs in perhaps. But to early to lock in rookies anyway.

R: Keep going back to Gawn/Grundy but not sure that makes the most sense. Preuss is serious value. Gawn is a lock for me. So that leaves R2. Briefly considered Witts as nicely discounted but won't be a keeper. So perhaps Reeves (also not a keeper but I think more chance to be; and slightly cheaper). Seriously good tap ruckman which scores well in SC (H/O to advantage). McEvoy will play forward/back and only pinch hit. Lynch is depth until next year when McEvoy retires. Big fan of Reeves and how he improved last year.

F: Duncan, Treloar, Taranto. Prob will be fairly common. Cogs perhaps over a few others at a similar price.

Finally, the unknow as of now is will there by two starting rookies back and forward. Only time will tell. As always that dictates structure.

Threw this together in 5 mins, not sure if I'd have the gonads to roll with it though.

It is like throwing paint at a wall, is it creative genius or just paint on a wall! 😂

Could be a good version of a momentum team, any undervalued players is there. Just need so many parts to work and if most are not premium players you could run out of trade upgrading the team.

Will be interesting to see if Elliot Yeo who has an AFL article on him todays starts to creep into teams. At 86 pricing vs 107 over two years is there value, yes, would you go him, no, at best could be a weak M8.

Haha, definitely 'paint on the wall'

Nonetheless, just tweaked it a bit further aiming for maximum flexibility with DPP's bearing in mind the havoc wreaked late last year with Covid.

Also trying to limit the amount of rookies and aiming to get the best one's available ie; ran with 17 rookies last year meaning I was scraping the bottom of the barrel filling the last 6 or so spots. Have 11 rookies this year with half a dozen MP's/stepping stones, I don't really expect to keep many of the MP's but they should shore up my scoring during the early rounds and I can easily combine a couple to jump on a money making premo if one shows. sc22v.2.JPG

Good point on rookies, I had 13 and that was a couple too many.

Hello Everyone

I hope you have enjoyed the festive season.

Balance $30,800
1641162211190.png

Def - I have gone with a 4 premium setup as I had trouble last year waiting for rookies to come on line and don't want to go through that again. There is a place for Milera as long as he can stay fit....

Mid - I have gone with a 4 premium setup, however, with high value rookies I have maximised the scoring/accelerated earning potential.

Ruck - I plan to have 1 upgrade on this line after the byes, the current setup eliminates any doughnuts, while being cheap.

Fwd - I have gone 2 premium setup with a lot of under priced players, if any become keepers even better. I have omitted Brodie as at this juncture due to job security. There is a place for Curnow as long as he can stay fit....

Playing around with structures based on rookie numbers and preseason.
this would be ideal
team A

Will Day $345,700
Jez McLennan $123,900

Josh Worrell $123,900
Garrett McDonagh $117,300

Midfielders

Jack Steele $685,800
Clayton Oliver $672,000
Tom Mitchell $638,100
Sam Walsh $637,100
Lachie Neale $543,200
Jason Horne-Francis $207,300
Nick Daicos $193,800
Cooper Stephens $123,900
Zac Taylor $117,300

Some interesting pre-season squads here, especially looking at the rucks which again frees up so much cash making the other lines strong without the set and forget Grawndy combo.

I'm yet to really steer away from these two though so as it stands this is where I am.

On face value this is a defender short. I love the look of Neale at M5 to start the year & refuse to cull him despite how he treated me last season.

When the rookie defenders are AWOL come Round 1 I'm hoping that Preuss is half fit & can fill a hole at R2 & give me the chance to upgrade a non-playing rookie. If I do that though, it'll likely be to Sicily and the injury risk I'm picking up exponentially increases.

All in all, I like the look of this for today.

It'll all change tomorrow and every day after and so on and so on ...

I really like the way this one structures up. You've got the flexibility to swap around the Gresham/Berry types via DPP in case someone like Hollands shapes as an on field type.

If you're going for set and forget rucks are you tempted by big Sean at all? I get the feeling Gawn's workload will be managed a little through the year: one, to keep growing Luke Jackson as a prospect and two, to make sure he's in top shape to kick 5 goals in a final again or whatever it was.

Looks good to me. I must say I didn’t notice a big difference from spending the Grundy cash elsewhere (perhaps more obvious as an X vs Y), so I’d likely err on using the version with him included.

Tempted yes, it's a preseason watch for me but loading up with Gawn gives me flexibility to trade down and not have to find coin.

I am also tempted by Preuss which would bring Oliver into the midfield but I'll need R3 cover to confidently go down that route.

I like it but I agree you are certainly 1 def short. I think you have two other options.

1. Horne-Francis down to a cheaper rookie & Taranto down to a Butters/Heeney/Thomas, use that cash for a speculative midpricer.
2. Drop a mid premo to any rookie & run an extra def premo.

I mean even if we were to get 5 playing rookie defs I'd still be too nervous about starting three each week.

Rookies will change big time by kick off

I'll be honest - I like it all bar the Goldstein pick. I think with Goldy at that price there's little to no improvement and personally would rather spend less on betting a younger ruckman may significantly improve like an English/Obrien, tbh I wouldn't do that either. I'd rather look at Preuss or the Big O if I wasn't taking Gawn/Darcy to pair with Grundy.
