BRISBANE will turn to debutant pair Zimmie Farquharson and Ruby Svarc to help cover for stars Kate Lutkins, Dakota Davidson and Sophie Conway.

The Lions have not played since losing both players to an ACL and foot injury respectively in round one, sitting out round two due to AFL health and safety protocols.

Winger Conway is the sole player from the round one side to still be missing under those protocols, with Svarc, sister of Cathy, set to slot into her position.

Farquharson was a first-round selection for the Lions in the 2020 NAB AFLW Draft, but the zippy forward was made to bide her time in the QAFLW due to the club's depth.

As previously announced, Sharni Webb will slot into defence, playing her first official game since giving birth to daughter Billie last year.

Opponent Carlton has made one change, with winger Brooke Walker replacing Charlotte Hammans in the 21.

Walker was a late withdrawal against Geelong last week due to illness, with Hammans her replacement at the time.

I think this isn't a bad outcome in the end. Averages to be applied to the game week they have the "bye" I think this suggests.
Originally scheduled:
Collingwood vs West Coast - Round 6
Fremantle vs Bulldogs - round 10
Assuming there are no further fixture changes that would be right, although it is likely that the AFLW would move a few matches around and try to get a round 10 with all 14 teams playing, Fremantle might finish top 2 and wouldn’t want 2 weeks off before a sudden death prelim.

Jess Good and Gab Pound are withdrawn due to HSP, with Carltons next game on Sunday we can assume that they will miss the round 4 game as well.

Fixture changes, tight turnaround and the Hobart Nissan Bonus Round

There's a bit going on this week in AFLW Fantasy.

Lockout lifting
Lockout will lift around midday Wednesday and then the Hobart Nissan Bonus Round begins.

Fixture Change
The AFLW have thrown us a curve ball with the fixture changes, which isn’t ideal given what’s at stake this week. But we plough on!

Additional Matches
The additional matches (Collingwood v West Coast, Bulldogs v Fremantle) will not count in AFLW Fantasy and averages will be applied in the rounds the games were originally meant to be played. Prices will not change for players in the additional matches, however the scores will count for a player’s average that will be applied later in the season.

Tight turnaround
Round 3 finished on Tuesday night and Round 4 begins on Thursday afternoon, so there’s a tight turnaround to make your trades. What makes things harder is that a 5:40PM start on Thursday means we’ll only just find out the Friday teams (5:30PM on the www.womens.afl website). We will NOT be updating the player colours by the start of the Thursday game and I recommend you make your trades prior to the team announcement as it’s a very small window to get your trades done.

Full lockout Thursday
Despite the tight turnaround and not knowing the weekend teams, we will still go into full lockout at 5:40PM AEST on Thursday at the commencement of the round. We toyed with a rolling lockout until the start of Friday’s game, but even that game starts before the Saturday teams are released (5:10PM bouncedown, teams released at 5:30PM). Unfortunately, the system is not set up for multiple rolling lockouts and we can’t extend it after this game so Thursday lockout will have to do.

However, we are all in the same boat with not knowing the weekend teams prior to lockout. You have three trades to fix up any known nonplayers, a backup in each position on the bench and further backup with the utility. My advice would be to have a green dot on your utility as it means you’re covered in all positions.

It’s certainly added another element to the round. It might actually even things out for the teams struggling and give them a chance to win the Bonus Round. A lot more luck will be needed this week that’s for sure, but the $1000 will be all the sweeter.

Hobart Nissan Bonus Round
I hope you’re as excited as we are about the Hobart Nissan Bonus Round and a chance to win the highest round prize pool in Australian fantasy sport for a free comp. Such was the initial buzz, they’ve agreed to do another one before the season’s out. Stay tuned for that and be sure to check them out if you’re after a new car www.hobartnissan.com.au. They can ship cars anywhere in Australia and will look after you when you say you’re playing AFLW Fantasy.

Remember it’s not too late to help your friends or family set up a team to win the prize.

Thanks and happy trading.

992, 316th for the week and 485th for the season

Rowbottom and Bohanna on the bench hurt.

About half a dozen players to cull and will need to prioritise them over the next 2 weeks so I can get a few key trade ins before they reach full price.
1129, 102nd and 235th now.

I will have to look Hampson to Birch, and getting this weeks best rookies or mid pricers in place of 2 of Magee, Reid, Lee and Kiely.
