Seems like an odd personal bias to bring forward. The times Dunkley was out of your side are just as important as the times he was in your side, when judging his potential for this year. 2021 is gone, don't let unfortunate trade timing impact your 2022 decision making.
This. Prior performances in your side should have little to no bearing in your decision making, should not be the deciding factor at any stage of the season and should not be the means to blacklist them by placing on the ludicrous never again list.

Defence

Lloyd - lock

Ridley - with Kelly recruited to play lockdown, can see him having a big SC year/ perfect SC game

Whitfield - I have debated with this pick ... depends on preseason but so tempting at his price/ ability to produce big scores

Sicily - Big fan of his, everything I have read about his preseason/rehab sounds great. Big watch on the hawks defence line up in preseason games - if playing his old SC friendly intercept marking role I will roll with him.

Rookies - place holders at this stage/ at this stage they seem in the mix.

Midfield

Macrae- SC royalty, Mr durable & consistent. Dogs play a lot of early round games so perfect VC option also.

Steele - Durable/ awesome tackler/ huge engine/ consistent - no red flags here. Saints play many late round games so solid Capt option.

Miller - see Steele... just love the way this guy goes about it.

Walsh - you all know how much I love this kid, think he will go to another level this year, superstar.

Neale - lock

Rookies - place holders at this stage/ at this stage they seem in the mix. JHF/Daicos/Ward amazing SC junior scores very appealing as onfield rookies. Long picked as capt loohole (hawks have late games) DP could be handy.

Rucks

Darcy - massive finish to last year, trimmer this year & could well be the number 1 SC ruck this season

McInerney - debated this pick for awhile... his 2nd half to last season was very impressive/ setting himself for a big year with extra work at preseason.

Hayes - With Ladhams gone & Dixon injured currently, he could well see games early on.

Fowards

Dunkley - have changed between him & Duncan a lot, Dunkley's ability to score huge when in the right role has swayed me at this stage.

Butters - see sig :)

Coniglio - lock

Curnow - Joe Daniher of 2022, was very impressive at Carlton's intra club scratch match during the week.

Maginess - this guy has worked very hard in building a big tank & improved his speed, in the mix to play on a wing this year.

Hollands - lock

Rookies - place holders at this stage/ Comben in the mix to be Goldy's backup & play as a fwd target, Skinner was great in the
SANFL last year, like that I can pair him up with De Koning for coverage.

lol, he was out with a shoulder between round 7 to 17. Can't recall if I started him. Anyway I wasn't judging his potential, rather his role, the coach has other ideas, ie: ruck. As I said, he's a favourite of mine, but not too sure what his role will be. Definitely not on a blacklist, but happy to pass at this early stage. 😁

Liba about to turn 30 and Dunkley out of contact at the end of the year. Dogs want to keep him so I can’t see him not playing midfield.

With Dunkley I don't think I'll select him. He's one of my favourite players, unfortunately, the coach has a lot to say about his role. Was on fire rounds 1-6 averaging 129 last year. I brought him in round 18 for an 87, then went DNP, 65, 75. Then in finals 61 and 66. If he plays on ball, then he does have a high average. Playing on ball in patches and up forward, not so much. He doesn't seem to be totally comfortable in the forward line, that it doesn't come naturally to him.
Surely Dunks plays full mid if fully fit - everything you want in a modern-day mid.

Suspect they were managing him through last season so he could impact when needed?

Agreed but a certain Tarantula is quite close to be on that list...

V0.7 - will have to wait and see if the 6-7 players I am watching as potential bargain forwards have good preseasons. But I think between those 200-300 and a few rookies this structure might just work again. I also think those 4 "rookies" on ground in the midfield should play round 1. Hobbs probably the most in doubt. Clark looks a gem and could even play round 1.

I like your team but the chances of three let alone two $102k players starting is buckleys and none. You may want to reconsider putting more cash into rookies.

Don't usually enter these type of threads ...

- But I'm bored so here goes ... more a case of who I'm considering ...
- I'm pretty sure it can be pulled apart quite easily ... but hey we are still 47 days away ...

Rowell>F.Macrae
Milera>S.DKoning

Upgrade Witts - Chol impact & low 90 type player will be a pain to upgrade to Darcy/Gawn IMO

I see a lot of teams with De Koning .. but a fringe GEE player scares the hell out of me ...
I also note Macrae is pretty well hyped ... can't take him yet based on last seasons output ..
- Rowell is a place holder for Berry etc ..

- Yep .. my Ruck line will likely change as I tinker ...
