Burkina Faso v Senegal
Cameroon v Egypt
I was sort of wanting to see a Traore battle happen with Mali v Burkina Faso - Mali has 5 with that surname in their squad, Burkina Faso 3. Mali just weren't good enough and got knocked out in the final 16 round. I doubt they all would have played anyway.

Expecting a Senegal v Cameroon final, but who knows.

Looking at the other Asian qualifying group, it is likely we'll be up against either UAE or Lebanon to qualify IF we finish third (I expect it's more than likely we do from here). Should be a bit clearer after the matches overnight.

That is some intensive research.

Haven't followed African football for years , thought Algeria was the powerhouse but they went out very early.

A point guarantees us a Top 3 spot , a loss makes it very nerve wracking , a win obviously is even better.

I actually had no idea of a single player that played for Burkina Faso and just looked up their squad, and noted they had multiple Traore's too. :)

Japan 2, Saudi Arabia 0

An Aussie win v Oman tonight would make this group close. Current standings are Saudi Arabia on 19 (2 to play), Japan 18 (2 to play), Australia 14 (3 to play). Both teams ahead have one game against an easier opponent, and one v us. We pretty much need to win out to qualify automatically, although a win v the Saudis / draw v Japan may also see us get through on goal difference. (Assuming we beat Oman of course...).

It's looking like it will be a play off v UAE as the most likely result.

2 all draw

Making it tough for auto qualification

Need to beat Japan then match whatever they get against Vietnam when we play Saudi Arabia

Great to see Vietnam get on the board with a 3-1 win over China , some impressive players coming through

Saudi Arabia 19 v China (A) , Australia
Japan 18 v Australia (A) , Vietnam
Australia 15 v Japan , Saudi Arabia (A)

Our hopes are in our own hands, win both games and we automatically qualify , otherwise hope China & Vietnam both create a miracle

Score: 178
Rd Rank: 424
Overall Rank: 27 (from 32)

Current trades:
Out: M Mount
In: K De Bruyne

De Bruyne returns for a second stint in my side and will be aiming to score much better than the period between RD9 to RD13. Considering trading a defender (Lamptey or James for Trippier/Digne) but leaves me with only 10 trades left.
