DEF: Guess my thoughts on Crisp is he's been pretty consistent, whereas Hall & Ziebell could have some changes with McDonald back in for a full year? But definitely something to think about.
Stew I absolutely love but few things I've heard about his injury and him not moving/executing the same way as last year - again another watch.
MID: Yeh, had Macrae in there until 2mins before to try get an additional PREM down back. But have been rethinking Trac (although I do love him as a player). Leave it with me, and cheers on Hobbs I hadn't seen that.
RUCK: Just like Marshall for his ability to score consistently at that price, again, had Darcy & Grundy beforehand as well. Will continue to watch.
FWD: Thomas is a deadset freak and will only get better, almost more consistent than Butters in my opinion but think I do need a Prem there. What's thoughts on Dusty, lost 15kgs with the latest injury, and his ability to brut players was his "leg-up" - that still going to be relevant.

Think you will find Dusty hss lost 2-3kgs. zmy understanding is he lost 10kg then gained 8kgs. He is interesting as Richmond need him through the mids. Never loved him in prior seasons, sucked in at 430k last year, however, if he plays more mids hard to see him not getting to 100 ave.
Dont think McDonald will impact Hall. owned McD in late 2020 and Hall 2021, so watched a few games more than I would normally. Even when McD scored a 100 I felt sick, it was awful. cheap kicks and turnovers everywhere. Hall is graceful and fast through the mids rebounding, absolute talent. Capt him in round 23 which was looking good when 85 at HT.
Crisp should have same role, 70% def and 30% mids. Pies will rotate more players through midfield with Pendle time in mids coming down. This could help Crisp as he did better when in defence. reliance to play most games, just his jump up in scoring from prior years a factor. Looks powerful when he played mids though.

Good luck in your second year. First off when creating your team develop a strategy. That can be:
1. Guns and rookies - focussing on who you think will be top of that position. You might reconsider Daniel as I don't think he will be, but that said midfielders in the defensive line are gold (aka Mills last year). Similarly Draper.
2. Go with the crowd! Pick all the popular players, and trade, trade, trade.
3. Midpriced fn Madness. Think a team littered with Gresham, Coleman, Rowell, Yeo, Thomas, Hewitt, etc. Should you pick more than 3 of these types you're bound to have a solid in the back of your trousers...but dream on, nail these and in theory you nail the win.
Each player needs to serve a roll.
1. A points scoring keeper. Ask yourself will my gut feel confident against the player my opponent could have?
2. A cash cow. These are super important. The most important. Spend your time here. Rookies that will grow cash and score points on the field.
3. Stepping stone, growing cash while scoring in that 80-100 range...
4. A mid priced keeper. This year the forward line looks like it's got a few. Butters et al. The reduced price allows a stronger starting team and saves you the $ when upgrading.
5. Floating donuts. Max 1. Consider whether M11 or R3 is the right spot if at all. Look at how DPP can swing around e.g there is a Carleton Ruc/Def that you can swing to the defence and Coleman forwards if looking to swing a ruc/for in as cover. (Haven't seen people run this setup yet
but they'll work it out soon).
Most of the picks are solid. Don't worry about building it too much. Focus on rookie news and creating your preferred team you'd like to build. Who are you starting and who will you buy?

Daniel is one I toyed with, I have had Crisp in there too and still have cash to get him but doesn't leave me any money in the bank really so may have another fiddle around.

Yeh, cool. Good insights re: Dusty & Hall... Hall is an absolute butcher with the ball though, so to still score that well is high-end I guess... At the moment I've flicked Butters to Dusty and maintained the backline... If Sicily doesn't get up then I'll have a review but really like Crisp for his consistency....

yeah, good to see Hobbs back. I did see earlier he was reported as having an injury and had put a line through him. Todays reported sounds like he really took it up to the 1st. would be good if Hobbs, Lords, McDonagh get a game round 1.
Currently have Baby Macrae and Stephens on the pine (4 premium mids incl Neale). If some cheap rookies turn up, just about could do @Impromptu when he started an 8 rookie mids, using Berry and others priced up $300k.
oooh, trading out Butters, I still have him in my side. Bit cheaper than Dusty, although question is what % midfield time both players get. Dunkley firing as well and Heeney mid time just gets talked up, so now need to work out the latter scoring rate when he plays mids.
Sicily apparently looked good as well, although he has always been a frustrating player to own. Can throw up some low scores. Sounds like Crisp mid time fo 30% cba will not change to much which is good, does better as a defender. Low injury history is good.
