From what I am reading, he will be in the mix but the hawks boys here would know more.

Just read this from "The Axeman" on BF who watched today's game re Maginess :-

Maginness was interesting. The good part is that he definitely knows how to get he ball. he played a fair bit of time as an inside mid and got some clearances. Was also at half back and was pretty good there. He is almost untackleable (is that a word?). He stands up in a tackle, even with two guys trying to pull him down and always get his arms free. What let him down today was his disposal.

Another hawk mid rookie in Connor MacDonald impressing, "The Axeman" posted this about him :-

Macdonald, like Ward, doesn't seem to have any really noticeable deficiencies as a player. His disposal over all distances is verging on elite. I reckon he earned more frees that anybody today and it was due to his tackling and pressure. He is a very smooth mover and like Ward, has bucket loads of composure. It's crazy that these two blokes are just 18 years old.
Maginess would be v handy being available in the fwd line!

Bit of noise from Tigerland with Gibcus rated very highly, kept Jack kickless in a 20min match sim. Grimes did an ankle, had to be helped off, Balta has been training FWD for most of the pre-season, opening up the possibility of playing Gibcus.
But did he get a kick himself?

Thoughts on the old FD to play this year? O'Driscoll one I had my eye on for M11 as I just assume (haven't checked) freo cop heaps of Sunday games as the afl love doing that to them.

but with all the mid/fwds maybe a swing the other way is better?

Gotta say, if we get flush with mid rookies and are light in def I'd consider Sicily at D5.

He doesn't feel like I'd pick him over a number of other premium choices but D5 feels about right 😁

Less than $200k price difference between him and the popular mid-pricers, and he can actually score like a premium (sometimes)
Tried it today, doesn't feel right to be honest, BUT finding two likely to play on field rookies is an interesting exercise.
