Butters or de goey?

In the right roles I'd prefer JDG because I think his ceiling is higher but the reports so far aren't good on his role.

Butters is more of an unknown for me, I find him very hard to really get any kind of scoring projection going. I actually struggle to even find a player comparison for him to be honest. I really like him as a player but not 100% sure it translates fully to SC.

Both have been similarly bad on durability so far so not a lot to add from that factor.

I'd say that right now I've got both outside my team looking in and needing to change my mind through the preseason but both very much on the list of guys that I could see changing my mind.

Taranto such a hard one to place.

As a midfielder he's a very strong fantasy option.

As a forward he actually looked like a good footballer.

With Greene out for a long time, it sure makes sense he'd at least start forward and if he keeps doing it as well as he did to end last year, you'd have to think it sticks but he's probably an 85-95 guy in that role and could be worse. He could very easily go 110+ as a midfielder but he'd be making the team worse by doing it. Especially given he'd be getting midfield minutes instead of Kelly, Green, Greene, Coniglio, Hopper and even Ward who are just better than him by a fair margin in that role and probably holding a couple of the kids development back as well, in particular Bruhn who needs to get in there also.

Love him as a prospect, if he was 100k cheaper he'd be a lock for me, at that price I need to see his role and it needs to be just about perfect, in that role he's capable of pushing 90+ though, imo, but I think he's more likely to end up in a hybrid role that he pushes more towards an 80 type score. He actually showed decent forward craft last year but he doesn't score from a fantasy perspective at all well there and while I personally think North will be a very competitive side, they're still not a team I'd back to be flooding their forwards with supply so definitely going to need significant midfield minutes.

Definitely very high on the watch list. It's hard to overstate just how good he was a junior.

I was also thinking Heeney had a 100+ in him but now looking through his history I'm not so sure. In his 7 previous seasons his managed to get to 97 twice and I worry that his body may not allow him to get there. He seem's a player that gets a few niggles but is just played forward to manage these at times impacting his scoring. I'm still on the fence.

He will be M/F by round 6, if he isn't, you would have traded him by round 4!

Only needs +35% midfield time at stoppages to be dual.

Once again , the new DPP'S are assigned at the COMPLETION of Round 6 , 12 & 18.

Both good I expect.

Feels like Dunk/Duncan are the safe choices re scoring and top echelon.

Dusty could be the best in years for him and be back up there, Heeney and Butters right up there.

Taranto subject to role will be there, post Toby coming back.

Rowan Marshall likely in the mix by round 6 (completion!).

Fyfe - if he is fwd we probably dont want him. would need to be an injury minor injury that pushes him fwd. Bont would need Dunkley taking a lot of his CBAs to get there.

Treloar/JDG - question around roles for me.

Zac Bailey - maybe a dark horse if his midfield minutes pick up to make it on scoring, already has DPP.

Zorko a good chance to get DPP (not sure if def or fwd), with a fwd role potentially seeing a 85-90 average.

Danger/Mundy - maybe a chance, more likely Mundy to get DPP

Just some thoughts, everyone will vary on their views, more about knowing who the universe of potn top 8 players, in case I have missed a few.

Evan if he got 80 at a low point, would he still be a good pick? Would make roughly 180k? With the potential of going higher
And doesn’t have the injury history of others in that range

Im not convinced Coleman is the bees knees thats being made out, even with Birchall going out they have options, hell they just recruited a half back with a top 20 pick that I think is a super talent.

Interesting isn’t it - They backed in Coleman when it mattered most so I think he will get first crack - Answerth/Zorko might be an issue but

I still think they can switch Ah Chee and Coleman at a whim and did so throughout the season last year, Madden will also improve the more footy he plays, Wilmot although unlikely early has a bucketload of talent and will surely get some look in throughout the season, need to see how they use Answerth and Zorko aswell only so many players fit into a backline at a time

The Lions do have a lot of options at half back, the problem is that most of them are more defensively oriented and that hurts their ball movement because they become too reliant on Rich. Coleman added another element with his run off half back, I don't see another player being capable of matching that unless Zorko's moved there (which is still unlikely at this stage).

Madden's very quick but his disposal isn't going to hurt anyone, so far his defensive work has been the most impressive part of his game. Answerth is similar, good small defender with pace who tends to bang it on the boot indiscriminately. Wilmot I think is another who'd start as a small defender. Ah Chee again is a small defender/utility only, I think he'll start forward this season if he's best 22 at all. Starcevich should be able to add to his offensive game, still more defensively minded though. The only players I can think of on the list who could play as more of a distributor type are Prior who's played more as a winger and yet to prove he can find enough of the ball at afl level, and Carter Michael who's on the rookie list and might still be a way off.
