5 extra trades slightly help there.

I also think a fair few here haven't considered Brodie Kemp at the Blues for their backline. Many Blues fans have him in their Rd 1 side & priced at 150 odd k.
Very true

Kemp has been locked @ D5 for me since intra club reports
Just out of interest, if Kemp is D5, who are your 3 playing, cheaper D6, 7 and 8 (or is D8 your donut)?

I don't know that I'm seeing a lot the $123k defender rookies in the best 22s floating around, unless I'm missing them

Anyone going cold on Daicos due to potential rest/management early in the year?
Not even one bit. The fact that the talk for a rookie is about load management rather than earning a spot in the team is everything I need. That's basically saying he's clearly in our best 22 and it's about maximising his performance this season even if it means holding him back slightly.

I actually love the talk.

Throw in that he sounds like a very strong chance to be able flip into DEF come round 7 and I'm looking at him as a very strong last couple of rookies out candidate who should score 70+ in that role with definite scope for 80+.

Kemp will be a very strong play when/if he's in that round 1 team. From what I've seen so far it seems they've got a role penciled in for him so it's his job to get the marker out and make sure of it. Sounds like he could have some on-field scope as well which is big bonus when paying that bit of a premium.

Starting to think Gibcus will debut round 1 - Reckon he & Kemp could hold down D5/6?
Kemp yes
As a tiger fan no to Gibcus
Won’t score well enough for an on field spot
Would rather a 170k odd mid rookie like Erasmus who I think will be a 65-80 guy
Just means fielding an extra mid rookie over a backline rookie.
the backline and forwardline are still a raffle at this stage but am tempted to go 5 premo backs as the milera types don’t fill me with any confidence as a d5 option
Rioli/Coleman are tempting though. Would be happy with them at d5 and kemp at d6

Cheers mate

Starting to think I’ll have to drop my Neale @M5 team to accommodate a Coleman type @ D5 due to poor def on field rookies..

Most of us have had to do the same thing. It’s just the way things have fallen which is annoying. Who knows though what rookies may bob up
For balance sake though it makes sense

The way I look at Gibcus is comparing him to DGB. He played plenty of wafl footy as a 17 year old in his draft year and looked great. He played 5 games and averaged 42 last year in the afl as a similar intercept marking key position type to Gibcus. Gibcus may be better but I’m not getting my hopes up as a scorer or starter yet

Gibcus averages 40 in that Richmond side for mine, not someone I'm looking at, hes not going to intercept over their other more experienced options.

More obvious rookie analysis from last year:

1644184052877.png

The lower the players starting price the greater likelihood that player is going to increase in value by $100K.

Generally there is a 1 in 5 chance of a sub $200K starting value player increasing by $100K.

That's not as high as I expected.

Nailing the right rookies for cash gen is crucial, not just picking someone cheap because they are playing. It's something I need to get better at.

I should also note "Stepping Stone" fans beware as the % is less for mid priced players than it is for "rookie" priced (sub $200K) players.

Does that mean we had 153 players with a starting price of $ 123,900.00 play last season ?

Or am I reading that wrong.

That seems a lot (unless my memory is fading faster than I realise)
