Haven't played this in years.. Any experts give us a run down on tactics. More midpricers? Seems to be some midfield value - similar to how SC is looking at this stage. Witts at R2?

Make sure to note the changes in scoring systems when deciding on starting players and trades throughout the season, as this is how many get unstuck by not being able to differentiate between formats.

My approach to DT is very similar to SC, but with three key nuances:

(1) Make sure that whoever you’re picking as a premium is actually a premium in this format. Some of the big SC names don’t accumulate enough ball to be DT relevant.

(2) Load up on midfielders in the forward line especially, and typically in defence as well.

(3) Focus on getting the very best players on each line - value picks are less required, and less successful overall, than in SC, in my experience.

The only real change for DT to SC is to remove the SC goggles.

Quantity is all that matters, kicking is much more valuable than handballing. Tackling is a lot more valuable in general.

Cheap outside players score more favourably here, inside players who tackle score similarly well. Defenders, rucks and forwards all score considerably worse in DT, mid premium level is lower but not as much. Value is generally more likely throughout the season.

I find you can't start as many premiums usually.

The other thing I've generally found is midpricers aren't as viable as the types who score well are more focused. The intercept defenders, goal creators, rebound 50 and high contested/efficiency disposal guys all score nothing extra in DT so someone like a Rioli or Coleman who look sound bets to go towards 90+ range in SC based on a lot of that stuff will struggle to go 80+ in DT.

On a positive, the butchers like Taranto are a lot easier to have

Footywire is my main one. DT scoring is identical to AFL Fantasy.

Yep .. it doesn't provide RDT BE's but I think we might be able to get around that amongst ourselves is this thread ...

- I've got the formula and easy enough to compute with a little input like the BBL ...
- Reminds me to track DT scores this year as I don't always do so ... even if I don't all I'd need is the last 3 scores, current price and ability to calculate the new MN (see above point) ...
- I won't do it for all players but could do those on request ..

Sicily seems very cheap in this comp compared to SC, eg he’s about 60% of Whitfield’s price in this comp.

Wonder why….? Did he get priced straight on his 2020 avg? (altho that was on reduced game time).
Interesting, thanks - I reckon there’s always a few who are cheaper/dearer (relatively) than in SC, and adjusting for that is pretty critical.

For me, trying to get different players across different formats make it very hard for me to focus (especially when my players are playing)

I try to start with a similar team as SuperCoach (so I don’t over think it) and then trade around based off pricing / roles

Each to their own though!

Seems like a similar thing on Milera (priced less than JHF) and Hinge is basement priced.

Backline is a very easy Sicily, Milera and Hinge in RDT at D4-D6.

Same here ... and then chip away at the edges ...

@stephen is a bit of a guru at starting selections in this format ....
