Daicos, Ward, Stephens, Erasmus, MacDonald, Maginness (mid/fwd) & Tsistas potentially could be playing much lucrative scoring roles at a cheaper price.
Or just wait until the practice matches are over and we will actually have a idea of which rookies to start 😉

Quite possibly some of the above don't look viable in their practice matches or alternatively they could go all go bang and look viable.

Yep, very early days & we must keep in mind North played the premiers today so was always going to be difficult for the kids like JHF really.

Having watched JHF on TV in the SANFL quite a few times , don't get this fascination by people that he is predominantly a mid , even with the Panthers he was playing plenty of time in the forward lines.

The PF final was out of the ordinary not his normal season output.

I guess it's just the natural "hype" we have for all these kids when they are drafted.

But plenty of names in the notebook , wait and see how the practice matches go then hopefully make the right choices when Round 1 teams are announced.

JHF is very likely to be a 60+ rookie plus his JS appears to be good at this stage so we may end up starting him. Will depend on how many mid rookies that are cheaper than him end up with reasonable scoring potential and JS. I think anybody expecting him to average 80+ is kidding themselves though.

We’ve already seen that both Hobbs and Goater who were reasonably popular mid options don’t appear to be viable. There could be many more from here.

Yep, a few people have said that which makes his classification as a mid only very annoying, he really should of got fwd/mid status :(

Just a reminder to all that pre-season (jumps in) scores don’t (always) correlate to jumps in score during the regular season

Can’t remember who but someone posted a table of preseason scores v regular season scores (worlds apart) only recently

Going to wait for more games / data before making wholesale changes to my team / structure. Still very limited info to go off this early into the pre-season allocation of games

North

JHF: Very quiet first half. Much better in the 3rd quarter. Quiet again in the 4th. Played predominantly as a half-fwd from what I saw. Also spent time at half-back and a spent some decent time in the middle attending a few CBA's. He was probably the best of North's rookie priced players in the end. I think he will be fine as a rookie going at around 60-65 but if we have enough of the cheaper mids options show up then they could score just as well for a fraction of the price.

P Walker (124k DEF/MID): Heard his name called quite a few times, didn't have a whole lot of impact on the contest and no idea whether he is best 22. Could be a bench option if named round 1.

Bergman (117k DEF/MID): Had a few touches and did some okay things but is probably unlikely for round 1.

Curtis (117K FWD) and Goater (117K MID): Both played in the second half only and each got a few touches but the low TOG likely indicates they aren't in the frame for round 1.

T Thomas: He was really good, the best player out there for North. Staying in my team on the back of today's game.

Polec: Was terrible in the first half and not sighted in the second half, possibly only played the first half. Wouldn't have thought he's an option after today's performance.

Dees

Chandler (124k FWD): He had an excellent first half with a couple of goals and some good pressure acts. Faded a bit as the game went on. Would probably need Spargo or Pickett to miss to get a round 1 spot which is highly unlikely.

Bedford (124k FWD and Turner (124k DEF): Bedford came on very late and I don't think he got a touch. I don't think Turner played at all. Neither are a chance for round 1.

Gawn/Jackson: Gawn was in the ruck for the majority of the game and played well, even pushed forward for 2 goals. Jackson spent a decent amount of time in the ruck too but was quiet. EDIT: CBA data shows that both spent an even amount of time in the ruck. Does make sense now I think about it as Gawn spent a big portion of Q3 on the bench just resting.

Oliver/Petracca: Barely got out of 2nd gear but both looked really good, Oliver looks to have gone to another level, if that's possible. I would be quite comfortable starting both if funds permit.

Let me know if there are any players you are interested in and I'll do my best to provide a summary.

Thanks for the fine reporting. Would really appreciate a Sparrow v Jordon analysis / commentary.

I was surprised to see how many CBA's Sparrow attended. I didn't think he made all that much impact considering how much time he spent in the middle. I expect the number of CBA's to decrease significantly when Viney plays.

Jordon was very quiet. Not too sure what his TOG was like but barely saw him.

I think Sparrow is comfortably ahead of Jordon especially on the back of Sparrow's GF performance. I think it would take an injury to a mid/half-fwd in order for both to play in the same team early in the season.

That would have made the forward line even more harder to pick

Dunkley + all the $ 450-480k guys

Gresham , Rayner , Cogs , Coleman, Curnow etc

Probably another half a dozen as well in the mix

Hopefully Virtual Sports decision to not make him a m/f because it would be "to easy" will backfire on them :D:D
Enough people contact them before the season starts and ask for his position to be changed it might just happen , happened a few seasons ago in the BBL when I queried Cameron Green's position , ended up a DPP.

It’s not VS, it’s CD. Which have based it off the actual assessment of his SANFL (and possibly his one unofficial U18 Champs) games, same as how any other player has their positions allocated.

So to say he didn’t get the FWD eligibility because it would make for an easy fantasy selection is incorrect.

Greenwood + Phillips 🙂
Must admit I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to either of them but heard their names called a fair bit and they attended a lot of CBA's. Greenwood should still be in the engine room often once Cunners, LDU and Simpkin return but I don't see him as SC relevant this season especially with so many premium mid options. I expect Phillips midfield minutes to reduce significantly which will impact his SC scores. He could still be a decent chance of average around 75 and therefore make enough money as a cash cow though.

Good feedback, thanks mate.

I actually own both in a keeper league. Given the way our salaries work, it wouldn’t be the worst thing for me if Phillips improved but didn’t go big this year. Equally if he does go big this year, I won’t mind that either!

Did Laurie play, and do you have any thoughts on Mahony?

Laurie didn't play so seems a fair way off.

Mahony bobbed up here and there. I think he kicked 2 goals for the match. Think he'll be around the 55-60 average mark as a small forward.
