North Melb.
Polec, has looked good in the inter club trials. If he lines up on the wing for pre season and performs, he becomes a serious consideration over JFH at M6. Only 40k more and proven 80+
Been to a fair few trainings, match sims and the intraclub. He looks happy and (for once) healthy, playing on a wing.
Looks to have had his first full pre-season in a while, but sounds like the final decision is with Nobes. We shall see if he's re-invested or not.

Not a template, but this is the team based on highest ownership. To fit the salary cap, Butters (30th most owned player) was left out for Curnow (31st)

Thanks

Interesting to see , still 12 premiums

3 midpricers , 7 onfield rookies (3 in defence could be stretching things although Whitfield with the rookie D/M could be advantageous)

Here is the latest version of my team. I've gone 4 deep in defence with Crisp who can move flexibly into the midfield. Gone Pod up forward, still not interested in Dunkley, his role worries me. Looking at 30 touches from Sidey on the wing, Gulden apparently doing well in his 2nd pre-season. Have $73k itb for an upgrade if required.

Slight change of tack - anyone think it's too lean going in with only a 3 premium midfield?

currently running that and I dont have those bench rookies either

Two structure questions are pre mids and how many premiums to go in total.

Have had 13 premiums which is possible with Sicily Whitfield and 3 x 450 fwds. Prefer a bit more balance and potn high quality choices I think.

There's no such thing as a midfield too lean. All you need structurally is 2 - 3 captaincy options, it's just the case that midfielders are usually the highest scorers, so you want a couple of premiums in the midfield to fulfil that role.

Whether going for this structure is worth it is another question. With quite a few rookies being available across both defence and midfield, I keep arriving at a 3 defence premium structure rather than 4, as I believe the midfielders have better value for money at the same price point.

E.g. Think from Berry to Rowell to Cripps to Neale to the ultra premiums, you would take the midfield premiums/rookies/mid-pricers over their defence counterparts.

Yeah that's the balance, I'm struggling to see defender rookies that will average close some of these mid rookies to o***et the extra money needed to bring in another mid premium. Does that make sense? I don't believe Rowell types and even Cripps are going to average that much more than say a Dawson or even Ridley to gain any benefit. Defender rookies arr more likely in my opinion to throw a sub 40 game than mid rookies. Not sure the balance is in my team yet though I agree.

Not sure Rowell/Cripps is a fair comparison to Dawson/Ridley since Rowell for example is 200k cheaper.

But yes, feel like you have to go deep for the forward line this year. And when it comes to mid vs def spots, mid spots are more valuable across the board.

Daicos should be D/M and JHF should be F/M but it is what it is.

Agree, bad example on my part but the mids priced $540k and below don't inspire me much and outside of Neale I'd be comfortable saying none would be keepers and few if any will average significantly more if at all more than a Dawson/Ridley
