Not phased by that myself. None of Brown, Jones, Macpherson, Butts, Doedee or Murphy are really strong kicks or rebounders, some of them aren't bad but really only Brodie Smith right now who seems a big threat to the pill finding it's way to him.

He's probably not a primary rebounder but he's cheap enough and the role is decent enough that the JS/Durability is really the only question I have on him but he's just about at the top of my personal rookie ranks.
Do you mean Nick Murray (not Murph?), I think him and Butts will be given a fair crack at the 2 big defender slots although it will be interesting the see what happens with Mcasey. On a wing I think he's got to compete with Seedsman and Dawson as well, best shot could be as a pinch hitter, Herbie's favourite Crows player Dave Mackay has retired so it'll be interesting who slots in the, plus there's Milera to come back in too.

I'm not completely optimistic he'll get a gig, he seems like a “first drop” type player at the moment, great for depth, but not necessarily starting 22. That being said he's in my SC squad right now 😂

Doesn't look like McAsey will be back anytime soon. Has an injury symbol next to his name saying stress fracture. Expected recovery time indefinite.

Missed his retirement party 😭

Butts , Doedee , Murray + Brown , Jones , Milera & Smith = 7

Hamill , Hinge , McPherson , Sholl all probably
vying for one spot (might have missed someone)

Dawson one wing , start Keays on Seedsman wing.

Keays isn’t a winger. Soligo will get first crack ;)
Never said he was , started their the last 6-7 games of last season to allow Schoenberg in at the CBA , then did the run with role when required.

Be interesting who gives when Crouch plays , ideally it should be Crouch , Laird & Schoenberg but does Sloane step back ?

Crows have only played through one wing the last 2-3 seasons in any case.

Jones probably most under threat from Hinge, never really cemented a spot in the side and they were trying to play him around half back last year.

Could see them playing Seedsman and Dawson on opposite wings, might work, looking at his highlight reel I like the idea of Dawson kicking it into the forward line from 50-70m out.

Sure you wouldn’t have missed much at his retirement party mate, looks like he'd be in bed by 10 😂

Be surprised if they see much of Seedsman at all , seems a very long recovery program he is on.

10 o'clock bed time is ok if you started at breakfast time.

Doubt Hinge sees wing time.

Seedsman and Dawson are first preference, followed by Sholl and Milera I would have thought. Might be a position Sloane spends some time in also as Adelaide can't afford to run all 4 of Crouch, Keays, Sloane and Laird in the same midfield unless we want another high draft pick.

Also, McAsey is a Long, long way back.

Was that intended wording or just how it played out...

Reckon he's a chance there given Seeds is out for the foreseeable future.

Milera and Smith both probably push up at times as well but I imagine Hinge is also in that group. Dawson probably pops out there at times as Schoenberg is also a good one who needs inside minutes, among a few others.

Think it will be a pretty fluid group. Hinge offers kicking and hardness though which are both really good skills to have in the bag, especially in a team that's not exactly flush with kicking!

Sounds like it kills DeGoey's chances of getting 20 uncontested possessions a game like he was in the back half of last year.
Even if he was fit I'd have passed for this reason, there was just no way a new coach who gets a whole pre season to play the way he wants to play would keep playing that game plan that allowed De Goey to dominate as a mid.

I posted somewhere that Collingwood would be kicking longer this season, well here is further evidence as to who they will target. via afl website.

CRAIG McRae taught Mason Cox how to use a football when the towering US import entered the AFL in late 2015, and now as new Collingwood coach he is re-training the near-31-year-old as part of his revamp of the Magpies.

In a wide-ranging interview with AFL.com.au, McRae outlined a significant role change for the 211cm big man, whose career was in question at the end of last season after playing just seven matches under Nathan Buckley and his temporary replacement as coach, Robert Harvey.

PLAY AFL FANTASY Pick your team NOW

"Mason came into the system and I spent six weeks with him when everyone else was on leave, and I upskilled him on some of the nuances of the game, kicks, marks and handballs and those sorts of things,” said McRae, who was a Pies assistant coach at the time of Cox’s arrival.

"Every time he misses a kick, I get blamed for it, every time he kicks a goal, I get a little head nod. It is interesting being seven-foot tall, and you play somewhat of an uncontested brand. I'm not sure if that suits him.

"I think this year we are going to kick to a lot more contests, and we will be asking Mason to get to those contests, and work hard to get the ball to ground, and if he can do that for us, he will have a role to play in our team."

Cox was re-contracted to Collingwood for one season only after McRae was locked-in as new coach late last year. He has played 76 matches and kicked 93 goals.

AFL'S 50 MVPs Cal Twomey makes the call

McRae has been excited by the pre-season and scratch-match form of Patrick Lipinski, acquired in a trade with the Western Bulldogs late last year.

"It is one of those ones I experienced when I was at Brisbane – some good players leave, because they just don't get the opportunity, which is fair enough, and the same thing happened at Richmond with the likes of Dan Butler going to other clubs with good opportunity," McRae said.

"We are lucky to have Patty in our environment. He's an elite runner. His hands around the contest really stand out. He is one of those guys who just really fits in quickly. He is a really good human. He may be one the Bulldogs may rue, we'll see, time will tell on that."

BACK IN THE MONEY Who are the AFL's million-dollar men?

Collingwood’s 'other Daicos', Josh Daicos, now entering his sixth season with the Magpies, which will be the first year for his much-hyped younger brother Nick, will effectively be given a fresh start under McRae.

"I was meeting with every player before everything got ticked off, and Josh, probably more than most, was determined to get back to showing everyone what he is capable of,” McRae said.

"He was interrupted last year with injury. He was carrying some groin issues, and he was also in and out of roles. So I asked him flat out: 'Where do you think play your best footy?'

"And he said it was on the wing. That's where we start, and it is up to him to own that, if you like. He looks really strong and fit and it is exciting what he brings to the table."
