I think Darcy likely outscores other players including Marshall but I'm not sure if it's by a significant amount and I'm willing to forego someone to free up cash when they've just had two separate injuries and only have one elite season.
Every ruck only has one elite season at some point, personally think the only thing stopping Darcy from easily being the number one Ruck is his body.

What % of time does Gawn need to play forward early doors to achieve forward status do we reckon?

Must have forward if that happens me thinks & those that don't have him may find it tough to get him in.

In saying that, I'm not starting him.

So Jack Hayes is now on the Saints list, what price are we expecting and do we think he'll get any games? Is he a pure Ruck or chance as a R/F
Based on his SANFL games he should be D/F/R , Mr Fixit man

Knock had always been whether he is tall enough to hold down a KPP at the next level.

Be interesting if they sat him back and let him be the back half ruck and Jackson the forward of centre ruck.

I guess with Tomlinson back they probably won't need him in defence as much , be funny if he became a D/R though instead.

102K ruck/ fwd

Really depends on if the saints want a mobile 2nd ruck to complement Marshall or a traditional ruck in Campbell if Ryder isn’t available.

I mean when you break out by as much as that history suggests you take a step back the following season, it happens at a very high rate. I always try to avoid starting any player the year after a big break out, which essentially ruled Walsh, Aaaron Hall and Touk out for me from the start of the year as well. I was going to create an exception for Darcy but the injury concerns have me thinking it's not worthwhile. I like to start players showing breakout potential, or who are underpriced based on previous seasons or who have backed up their average for at least two seasons.

Im interested in what the Saints actually do with him, really isnt big enough to play in the Ruck and isnt big enough to be a main key forward, super athlete though which is something you can't teach.

Extremely talented (obviously) player at SANFL , Jack Oatey Medallist , equal 3rd in the Margarey , State captain , etc etc

24 so no idea why he has missed so many drafts over the years.

Do they keep Marshall forward and ruck Campbell until Ryder returns (I haven't seen a definite timeline) or does Marshall predominantly ruck and they use a pinch hitter as back up.

Hayes could probably even play as a winger in the AFL.

I’d wager guys breaking out and remaining at that level happens far more often than them going backwards immediately

Id be very surprised if they are throwing Hayes into centre bounces personally, Campbell should be ahead of him in those stakes

My only issue on Grundy is I want to say that his last couple of years of, lets call it lackadaisical, football were an FU to Buckley, similar to Moore dogging the crap out of him as a forward, but then he was even worse under Harvey so that went out the window and it really only leaves the "he got his contract and no longer cares" answer for how he's played since he got that contract...

Admittedly, of the negative tales it's the best one so there's that because even 2nd rate effort Grundy is really, really good!

I don't know how the rucks always mess with me so much, I'm not back to the point where taking a 10 point loss on Gawn doesn't seem that bad
Don't underestimate the impact of the COVID lockdowns on Grundy the past couple of years - he really is a different cat to your regular run of the mill footballer and thrives just as much if not more on his various endeavours outside of football.

I reckon we'll see a rejuvenated version of him this season and if we bring a game plan to the table which isn't just defend at all costs the there might be some good times ahead this season at least from a fantasy perspective anyway.
