What happened with McGovern's TOG? Only one off his career high disposal count from 62% could be encouraging if that number doesn't indicate he's not fit enough for more.
It's hard to pick a guy who's had more than 15 disposals a grand total of 4 times in his career. He'd also need to make cash quickly before he gets injured or Marchbank and Plowman return to take his spot (I'm just assuming they'll be back in the side at some point).
Concerns have been far too over exaggerated in the preseason. Still in his prime, team in the premiership window and as long as decreased ruck time equates to more time around the ground with the opportunity to register more intercept marks or goals rather than increased bench time, he should still be able to hover around the 120-125 range.
I've never seen an intercepting defender average as much as Gawn in the ruck. Its better than Gawn resting forward, but there's no way Gawn scores the same or more by spending less time ruck and more time in defense. He could easily still be in the top 2 rucks but its definitely not a value pick.
Anyway, Vossy's pre-season winning streak continues. That's at least 6 in a row counting that unforgettable 2013 NAB Cup run (I know it still stings Carlton fans). I wonder what else happened that year?

Its a free as **** role as the loose man in defence, was even taking kick ins aswell, genuinely don't think 80-90 is beyond him if he can just stay on the park, 100 from 62% TOG on a side that just won the flag is very impressive.

There's also not too many 7 foot interceptors going around. One of my observations from last year is that Gawn seemed to get an inordinate amount of points from intercept marks, especially late in games. The amount of times he'd be sitting on 40 at HT and then you'd be wondering what you were worried about by the end... If he's going to continue to be a kick behind the ball in those situations I'm not backing against that.
End of round 6? No doubt he gets def status of he gets enough games if course!
I would have thought gov is keeping plowman out and weitering replaces McDonald. Weitering is clearly a better defender too so I guess gov is the less accountable of the 2 if they okay together. It doesn't put me off him as a pick anyway.
