Hartigan not playing. He’s undersized to be playing the role he is now and wasting his strengths.

When youve got to fit so many guys into a back 7 someone has to play taller, think theres a very real chance this is his role personally.

They moved him up there for his spark we where missing that last year. His my favourite player at Richmond can play anywhere a bit taller he would play ruck as well. Not the worst pick he will get better again.

Maybe a swap with Rioli, anyway based on his halftime score, I might pull the trigger.

I dont see the attraction of Balta at 360k, would have to improve massively to pay off as a pick and hes pretty much playing as a 3rd key forward, did next to nothing last wekeend on a stronger side aswell.

Gibcus was extremely impressive, looks to have sured up a spot in their backline

He seems hard at it and quite versatile - liked his game a lot.

Re the other rookies - Ward gets a tick from me just for his scoring potential and JS alone in a year where we don't have many options. He hasn't left my team all pre season as a high priced placeholder and it looks like he stays there.

MacDonald - first time i have seen him and I really like him. I can't imagine why hawthorn wouldn't play him as he seems to have real skill, poise and toughness. They look like the have a player there. Agree on your earlier comment re the sub vest potential but they really shouldn't do that to kids (eg downie last year) and hopefully they save the sub for Daniel Howe (is he still on their list?) types

Maginness lining up at half back with all their outs there says it all about his prospects

Tigers fans what do we think of Ralphsmith, Rioli and Short across half back? Both of them have had their moments but haven't had me rushing to tinker with my team to get them in

Vlaustin to come back so I assume Ralphsmith and Rioli are duking it out for a spot today?

Every year I tell myself I will wait until Dusty is cheaper to buy him and every year he makes his way into my team before round 1. Today is not helping me reverse that trend.

I think Strachan is on the extended bench for later anyway so might still get a look at him for a few short stints in the main match.

Ralph 93% tog so maybe he's got the role heading into round one, really wanted to see more though. Tbf he did the bulk of his scoring in their praccy game when Short was off the ground.

Just a work horse, loved him in the juniors and see no reason why he wont make the step up in grade quickly.
