Am I the only one not excited by Hayes and Dixon basically at all.

I thought Dixon played great last week but Allen is only out a few weeks most likely and then he's going to have to have outperformed Kennedy or Waterman to stay in and that's an ask. Will get a chance to change it but feels like a strong 1 price change guy.

Hayes even weaker, although playing ahead of Campbell is at least something but hard to see how he plays if Ryder is fit and it's not that hard to question how he plays even if he isn't with Sharman, King and Membrey already manning the main 3 tall spots and Sharman having done a bit of ruckwork in preseason as a decent indicator he could do it in the real stuff.

Hopefully they can prove me wrong :)
Good points as usual Wogi, I will add that Simmo mentioned awhile ago that they will be managing JK this year given his age, I expect him to be regularly rested for away games. Apart from Durdin, I am really struggling to find another decent fwd rookie (have De Koning on back bench but may have to swing him fwd).
Hopefully some other fwd rookies perform well over the weekend 🙏

Ward sneaking in my team over JHF. Just thinking we may get more midfield minutes - or am I convincing myself of that given he is cheaper and allows other team structure upgrades…
Not 100% sold on Ward getting anywhere near the cbas and on ball minutes he got yesterday with Titch and JOM not playing, in the first practice game he was stuck on a wing for most of the game.

He doesn't need anywhere near the CBAs.

He's priced at 180k, not $380k.

JHF will get a fraction of what Ward will receive in CBAs and we are still locking him in our team. Ultimately, Ward looks ready for AFL, at worst he has a wing role, will get plenty of midfield minutes, strong job security... All of that combine to easily justify his price premium.

Never said he's not a lock, just not to expect scores like these all the time. Both he and JHF should be selected imo.

Just an update to the Ralphsmith discussion:
Out of VFL yesterday,Stack & Pickett played on wings. Also

"Rhyan Mansell’s second half would have helped increase the comfort levels of Brown, with the flint-hard defender unflinching in the air, both at the ball and man.
Mansell helped stem the flow of the Hawks run-on and then got the game played back on Richmond’s terms after half-time"

This is gunna be interesting at selection

The Will Brodie situation probably needs to be carefully monitored. Not going to lie, I rate him so highly, I strongly considered starting him 2 years ago at $400k+, unfortunately he just never received the midfield minutes to become a true premium (his SC per minute ratio rivalled the best midfielders in the comp).

2 years later he's just over 200k with forward eligibility...

If he get any decent midfield role he will easily justify his price tag IMO.

Currently, it appears that their primary midfield rotation consists of (1) Fyfe (2) Mundy (3) Brayshaw (4) Serong. With Fyfe playing some forward minutes and Mundy having marginally less game time in general given his age, surely they can fit in a part-time midfielder in Brodie? Could be something like Brayshaw 80% TOG (60% inside mid - 20% wing), Fyfe 80% TOG (60% inside mid - 20% forward), Mundy 70% TOG (70% inside mid), Serong 75% TOG (75% inside mid).

This leaves Brodie with potentially 70% TOG (45% inside mid, 25% somewhere else). Is this achievable?

Any thoughts/insight Freo supporters can provide?
