I'm all for people liking the value of Rowell and Cripps but I dont think you can be taking on Macrae,Steele and Miller every week, just dont see how thats not going to be a long 8 to 10 weeks.
In isolation definitely not, but if you're only running 2 rookies in the mids then you have to look at the sum of the whole.

I'm taking the punt on Cripps, there's clear value in the selection as he looks a completely different player compared to the last 2 years, but agree that there has to be a contingency in place if he does go down early or his scoring is suss. For me that would be to swing Hewett to the mids and downgrade Cripps to Kiddy, pocket the 200k, then flick Hewett (hopefully after a few price rises) to an uber mid. It'll cost me a couple of trades but the team will be improved.

It’s all about where you invest the cash.

Those going Cripps + Rowell over say Macrae and Steele save 600k. Let’s say Cripps + Rowell go 105 and 100 (205) vs Macrae and Steele who go 120 each (240). Those who went skinny on the value guys are down 35 ppg a week but have $600k to invest elsewhere to make it up.

600k can say get you Sicily (95) over Gibcus (60) + Heeney or Treloar (95) over Rachele (65). That’s likely to be at least 60-65 ppg, so in total gets you a net 25-30 ppg.

I’ve gone about 5ppg below my expectations/hopes on each of Cripps, Rowell, Heeney/Treloar & Sicily too.

I think initally you get the points advantage in these scenarios, but Ive never particularly thought it comes out ahead across a 22 round season which is what really counts, time will tell.

In the spirit of transparency, here's current squad. It's far from final as I still have 3 cheapies on the pine. Thought being one might be a donut, the others I hope to get a price rise or two out of. I expect I'll have to scale back somewhere (e.g. Sicily to Hewett) to fund some insurance. Anyhow:

really liking this structure, still maybe one rookie to thin but i think it will have to do

2 pods
- brayshaw
- mcinerny

managed to fit rowell, missing whitfield and ward atm, but nont too worried

thoughts appreciated

Strong team, don't see McDonagh and Long playing though and no idea who Worner is, floating donut? Would also prefer Whitfield over a risk like McInerney.

definitley looking at 1-2 floating donuts, mainly to loop rookies as that can give a strong advantage

then can look to bring in rookies when people start debuting

hoping we get a couple more 123k so i can downgrade gibcus ad then fill out with 123k

yeah wish i could go safer than mcinery butttt literally dont have the cash

thanks for reply mate
I personally think it's better to try and get playing rookies in every position available but that's my preference, the more avenues for cash gen especially in the first stages of the season the better. Too many loopholes and you rob yourself of cash generation.

Neale @ M1

Lloyd , Short , Whitfield * , Sicily , Hewett * , Chapman / Hinge , Gibcus

Neale , Cripps , Rowell , Berry , Coniglio * , Brodie * , Horne-Francis , Daicos / Rachele * , Ward , D Stephens

Gawn , Grundy / S Hayes

Dunkley , Heeney , Butters , McGovern , Curnow , Xerri / McCartin * , Durdin

Bank: $ 17,400.00

Read many posts how it is "easy" to upgrade to $ 600+k mid premiums , not sure if getting 6-8 is actually practical though

Solid is probably not strong enough though.

Need to start Macrae at least imo.

Hewett & Chapman out gets me Rowell to Macrae.

So then it's Hewett , Chapman , Rowell v Macrae , Hinge , Gibcus

And now I just get confused again , need the season to start to just lock a team in.

Like it Herbie. I personally can't stomach quite that much cash on the bench but that's not to say it's the wrong way to go this year. Definitely could pay off nicely.

What's your thinking on S Hayes? Got some of that inside Adelaide mail? Or just prefer to gamble on him than the other options?
