I didn’t get a chance to watch Richmond’s AAMI match but noticed that Balta scored well.
He‘s been on my watch list for a while - always interested in mobile bigger types.
Tigers fans - What do we think his role is this year and what can we expect him to produce in SC?

Dimma said on Richo's podcast that they have trialled him forward so he learns the role in case of injury to Jack or Lynch. Where he actually plays will probably depend on injuries & opposition fwd lines. As for scoring,he can mark it & is a belting kick,if he adds goals to that should be a decent option.

Thanks for the response - he is a bit of a mystery but one day I think he can be a premium scorer.

Balta played as the 3rd forward and backup ruck.

Tigers have a very interesting decision to make with Soldo, I think Balta makes a lot more sense as the 2nd ruck than Soldo and if Balta isn't the 2nd ruck they then have to work out where he fits and whether they can play 4 KP types up forward.

One of the most difficult best 22s to do right now.

Thanks for that additional feedback.
That definitely makes sense to me. I believe they aren’t looking at him in a key defence role, and FF and CHF are taken so where does he fit in? He could really be an interesting proposition with any sort of mid-field role.
Hope the team-sheet makes it clear where lines up - at least for R1.

I'd move on regardless, I can't see how he'd be fantasy viable in any role outside maybe #1 ruck which needs at least two season ending injuries to happen. If he is, let him prove it before jumping as you'd be the only person in the game picking him.

Think I’m reasonably settled on core of my team and just waiting on rookies. Always enjoy some rookie roulette in the starting weeks ! There are some great rookie locks (e.g. Daicos) this year. As always, need to wait and see who is named in teams for round 1. Good rookies determine your team structure across the lines.

By the way, thought I would post James Rowe’s scores from 2021 as a timely reminder not to overreact. I didn’t have him in my starting team since he was a small forward playing for Adelaide. Saw his round 1 score and decided I would wait to make a decision after two games when rookies are on the bubble before price changes in round 3. In the end, decided not to grab him. With the trade boost this year, we can use as an additional trade (if needed) after round 2 to make any corrections.

Having said all of above, I will be selecting another M/F rookie from Adelaide in my starting team this year ! Yes, I’m 👀 at you Mr Rachele !

To me it looks like Rachele is a stronger body and more mobile and finds himself further up the ground than what Rowe did last season. Rowe later in the year looked to get more mobile, whether that was coaching direction or confidence I don't know but he did look better later in the year. Regardless, for me anyway I need him in the team as I'm not comfortable running some of those bargain basement rookies due JS

I've got Cripps, Rowell and Berry in the same team. Something tells me it will go terribly wrong thinking of cutting one leaning more towards Cripps. Anyone thinking the same.

Yep Cripps has been cut from mine. He lasted a day but the scars were too deep from last year. He will probably go on to be a good pick but gut says no.
