“Mitch Hinge was also back training with the main group
after he was rested last week following a knock to his AC joint in the shoulder he dislocated on multiple occasions in 2021.”

“Both the Crows and Power will have at least one debutant this weekend, and there could be more.

No. 6 draftee Josh Rachele is all but locked in to debut for the Crows against the Dockers on Sunday.

Jake Soligo, pick 36, has played in both the pre-season games for the Crows and has consistently been in the stronger sides during match sim.”

No. 12 draft pick Josh Sinn and father-son Jackson Mead are both pushing for debuts against the Lions.

Sinn has impressed in the pre-season for the Power but Port coaches are wary that he hasn’t played too much footy over the past two years because of the Covid situation in Victoria.

Mead was on the stronger black side during match sim on Saturday, while Sinn was in the white side.

Sam Hayes has pushed for a debut, but it is likely to have to be for Lycett, not alongside the Power’s No. 1 ruck.

Mid-season draftee Jed McEntee is looming as a bolter for the Power after impressing with his energy and pressure.

He was one of the bright spots for the Power against Gold Coast, and backed it up with 13 possessions and a goal against the Crows.

Tom Clurey will miss the start of the season after he had to have arthroscopic surgery on his knee following the Crows match.

But while Power coaches have been impressed with Sam Skinner, Trent McKenzie is likely to be the third tall down back.

Over at West Lakes Lachlan Gollant is pushing to be one of the players Matthew Nicks turns to as he tries to fill the Taylor Walker-sized hole in his forward line for the first three games of the season.

Rory Laird’s broken hand has opened the door for Jackson Hately and Luke Pedlar to push for potential places in the Crows midfield rotation. “

Anyone else feeling really exposed with Dixon, Martin and Hayes on the bench (all 102k).
Torn between downgrading Naish to Maginnes/Durdin to at least ensure I've got $40k to play around with to cover correctional trades. But that would be my F6 though on field.

I’ll likely take Hough if C Stephens etc isn’t named. Close contact rules in WA means that there’ll likely be a few players missing each week so Hough should get the opportunities. Sounds like he’ll pick up DEF eligibility too at the end of R6.

I've limited myself to two of these (Hayes and Martin), I think Durdin is moderately safe with his JS, Dixon I think goes when Darling gets back (a month?), Hayes I'm comfortable at R3 as Ryder misses games and he can be used as a loohole if he doesn't play. Martin I really hope is given a run but I think he's contending with Guelfi/Cox for a spot maybe? Worst outcome is he's their sub.

FWIW I'm picking Hough if he does get named. I think he's capable of playing a couple of roles in our side, midfield is one but I reckon he can also play that "floating" role across the defensive line/halfback too (which can be a good scoring role even for a rookie). The amount of injuries we have means hopefully he gets a good opportunity in the early rounds, and if he plays well then he may keep his spot in the team long enough to make some decent cash.

Even if he's dropped when our injured players return, I think he'll still be back in the team at some point in the season. Once we're out of finals contention, I can't see why Simpson wouldn't start playing all these young players we have and getting more games into them.

Worst case is Eagles are a pretty good loophole option and he's only 117k.

I agree in a way, guys who run to the right places and can kick the ball really well tend to find spots. I don't think he's terribly dissimilar to Day, Cox or Blakey types who did play a fair bit, not as tall as those guys but similar build. Poulter last year another.

Yeah, I'm trying to talk myself into it!

It sounds like Soligo is a chance as well would he be a better bet if named as he’s more likely in the side in his own right not because of heaps of short term outs?

A problem I’m having is if taking one of these guys I’m either losing Stephens or a gun mid and then having a spare $100k once i reallocate my spare mid premium cash.

That’s with also picking MacDonald.

Awesome insight, any thoughts on how Patrick Naish's prospects for 2022?

Seems to be an accumulator (14 touches in 38% game time in the recent AAMI game), could he be a solid on-field option at F6?

He's made a good impression so far in the short amount of time he's been with the team. I don't think the coaching staff would've agreed to bring him into the team unless they were willing to play him, especially given our injuries.

I'm not too sure what role he played at Richmond, but for us I think he'll get to play an outside game. So a role on the wing with some midfield rotations here and there as needed. Apart from Gaff, we don't really have another wing player who has played well consistently in the position so it's definitely up for grabs IMO so hopefully Naish gets a fair chance at it.

However, it's a bit of a risk as there are a few other forward options near his price who look like they have better JS so he's not in my team at the moment. I'm interested but still keen to see the team lineups first to see if he's named on the field for us.

Honestly the way I'm treating it at the moment is I'm just going to pick anyone rookie priced who gets named and then if necessary, the Eagles play last and have all sorts of bailout options that should get up!
That's what I'm doing. My side has been pretty set for a while. I'll just jig around the cheap picks with whats available. There's some slight preferences but whatever!

He played a similar sort of role, just always struggled to impact the game at AFL Level, think being in a poorer side that actually gives him a run at it will help though, still a young player whose beet footy should be ahead of him.

Id be careful with Stephens, suspect he debuts but we are likely to have Duncan,Menegola,O'Connor and Miers all to come back into the side, feels very play 1 or 2 games and get dropped to me.
