I think that the thing holding back Gibcus ATS is that he doesn't get a lot of intercept marks, he's got a huge leap and nullified JackR in all of the intraclub games with his closing speed and ability to spoil, he'll pick up a few +6's but until he starts sticking those contested marks he'll be a low scorer with good JS and really only a bench option.
Hes got to beat blokes in a marking contest that have 10kg on him right now, thats a huge ask regardless of how talented you are, the contested marks will come as he adds strength to his frame.

$171k for a bloke who will average what, 55? It's not great.
Yep, my huge concern also - can see just a 50/55 average thus not justifying the starting price.

At this late stage I think we need to hope that Ken Hinkley saves us by announcing a Josh Sin debut/ not the sub either :p:ROFLMAO:

His role from what we have seen in the preseason games is exactly what we need for a rookie defender.

If no Sinn then we maybe stuck with Gibcus or have to restructure or go the floating donut option - none of those 3 are appealing

A mate over in WA that gets good intel has said they've already told the AFL they will have to call on their top up pool if players dont clear protocols, their list is decimated right now.
So I gather if he (or others) get named once they have 28 + available of their normal list available again , they are then no longer able to play.

Is their a mid season draft again this year ? are the Covid Top Up players then tied to their "existing" club or can another club draft them ?

1%ers (spoils) still attract decent SC. I haven't got the stats at my fingertips but a decent chunk of Harris Andrews' score regularly comes from spoils. I'm not suggesting Gibcus is at Harris Andrews levels but he appears to be that kind of player.

Correct - we added Watson the ex Freo player yesterday for example :-

Former Fremantle Dockers defender Tobe Watson to join West Coast Eagles as COVID top-up

I was surprised he was cut, can certainly see him getting a game for us this year.

So if WCE have < 28 available , Logan Young could get a game ?
Anyone is a chance with the crisis we have at the moment.

Reportedly only have 25-26 to select from so we can call on and play the Covid top-up players if we want.

I would suggest Brayden Ainsworth the most likely to get a call-up as he knows the system and just came off our list after last season. Swan Districts prolific ball winner Sam Fisher and ex Docker Stefan Giro also good chances to get games ahead of the four nominated WAFL Eagles (Young, Sumich, Ryan & Deegan)... Those four are virtually amateurs players.

Tempted to do this myself, think it will be very hard to go up to him if he fires his first two games.
One option is if you have a R/F bench ruck you can swap any forward to him if you want.

And he’s given us an extra week to see how he goes so we get one price rise out of someone first. Again, if we wanted.

Even Dixon start at R3 with one price rise plus some coin in the bank is possible, yes waste a trade but get to look at Preuss for a few weeks
