It was great to be back at the G last night with a crowd.
Just too good you Baggers, last qtr clearance domination was remarkable.
Some big boys in there,Tiges don't usually care about that stuff but this was a clinic.

Not too many highlights for us,reception for Doc was amazing as expected.
Also Dimma running the gauntlet to give him a hug post game.

Thinking of upgrading Neale to Touk. My mid bench is a shambles, but can be useful loops. I understand we need that cash gen, but, thinking of the consistent uber premium scores may outweigh the scores from midpricers or general premiums.

I'm picking Neale because I think he'll be a top 8 mid and I think Touk is about his correct price.

Last years pre season he said he was the fittest he'd been, then you see this. I've made the switch, I know he's priced great, but he's reached the pinnacle. Whereas Touk keeps on improving. The other factor is Neale going home due to family with a new bub, he'll see out his contract, but will he apply himself 100%?

I think taking a FD for potentially 30pts round 1 is crazy, that 30 pt advantage is lost so quickly if you need a playing bench rookie later not to mention potentially another $150k you're behind in upgrades
Yeah, I don’t like it much, especially as they often turn up anyway - but I’d rather have a fd that can float than a dropped rookie who sits one line - ie. Gould a couple of years ago. I’m also picking a guy who will likely get a game… Still doesn’t sit well, but a captains loop is pretty much a necessity long term.

He looks fit this year and has been getting midfield minutes so I'm picking him for value but Touk is on fire and could go big against WC.
I'm banking on Rowell to also go big this week.
If Rowell can average somewhere close to Touk that will be a big win for my team.

Yes I know that cash gen is king etc but I'm considering the same - I'm just not happy with any D8 choices and missed Gibcus due to been tied up before yesterday's match (didn't like him as a pick anyway), but it makes playing this game more enjoyable  and I may as well accept that I'm not going to win the $50k anyway.
My alternative is to dump Xerri for Martin (Rochele on field), and bring in Chapman for D5. Xerri could end up being a huge cash cow but risky.

Traded Lloyd to Hewitt last night which now leaves $208K in my bank accnt, but actually don't see a way to improve my team by spending it and want the players I have. Wouldn't normally take that amount into next rnd but think I might for correctional trades. Did consider the idea of bringing Preuss in this rnd but think I will just hold. Ahh SC so many headaches

47 and 48 frees so far. I compared and this is higher than 8/9 games in Rd 1 last year (Kangas v Port had 56 last year), but not by a lot - most games were low 40's.

I expect players will get used to how umpires are interpreting new rules, and these numbers will drop in time, but as a neutral so far, I've thought the umpires haven't been bad. I would say more of the noticeable ones have been missed frees rather than paid ones.

I'm sure I'll probably change my mind about umpiring on Sunday afternoon though. :p
The game doesn't need new rules every year, it's just frustrating to watch. Bringing in rules to protect players well fare I'm all for, the stand on the mark rule has to be the one that's killed the game for me.
