Need a defender under 305k

Help required (currently doing something crazy dumb that I never thought I'd do)
B Campbell or W Milera.

No Lloyd could bode well initially for Campbell who could receive some kick ins and be one of the key options exiting the defence but longer term I am unsure of his scoring. Milera due to his scoring history and I have been very surprised by the lack of attention given to the arrival of Darren Burgess and the impact this will have on several Crows players such as Milera.

Too funny - they are the two currently on the table

Is currently Milera (just feel it's gonna burn me bad)

Trying to pick between Whitfield or Ridley... love some thoughts 👍
Both good picks, if I had to remove one from my team it would be Ridley just. Whitfield AVG over last 3 years is 103 and gets an 11 point discount and can absolutely burn you if starts on fire. Ridley though is going to be given free range to float around without accountability so should increase too. The hurt factor with Whitfield just tips him in favour for me

He is in my team, a late Seagull out made that happen. Yes, there is an injury risk but I am only running one on field rookie :sneaky:
Could be a really nice POD, everytime I switch him I get real anxious as he's only played one full season in 10 years! Flipside is if you missed on Hewett you could potentially take a flyer on Hall and if he struggles trade down in a couple of weeks or so if you can wait possibly to see what de koning scores and if he goes 80+ take Lloyd for a week 1 donut.

I'm with ya PC lets hope Seagull 2.0 gets lots of chips that have been thrown around and he can munch on them in bruise free serenity

and anyone else who has an opinion.

Hall must be over his hamstring injury to be selected. Thoughts on starting him this year? If late out can go Sic, Dawson, Ryan.
He has been in & out of my team over the past 24hrs, I've decided against it as I'm not taking on any players who haven't had a clear preseason.

It has been 3 weeks since he had that niggle, note I say 'niggle' as I read that it wasn't iced when he came off or after the intra game, maybe he felt something and didn't want to risk it...? As far as I can tell, he's been back in full training for the past week and he looks the fittest I've seen from training photos posted. I feel that if there were any doubts, they wouldn't risk playing him as he's probably one of the most important piece of our puzzle. A lot of our forward foray stems from his run and carry and ability to pin point a pass.

The element of injury risk applies to all players, some more than others. One needs to also factor in their role as well when they are assessing this risk. The flipside is that Hall has shown last season that he has all the tools to be the top defender and our game style out of defense is centered around him. I see him as a classic 'risk v reward' type selection, different this season is you're forking out a premium for him compared to last season.

In summary, my suggestion to you (and others considering him) is that if you feel confident that he'll enjoy a significant gap (say 5+ points) to the other defenders then the risk is worth taking on.

Good luck on your decision, I'll enjoy watching him regardless of whether he's playing for my team or not.

I think Whitfield is the better scorer but get injured by the wind. So that reason and the reason I have no players playing in today's first game if I don't pick Ridley is the reason I'm leaning more towards Ridley.

I don't want to sway you either way but you don't get more points for playing earlier on the weekend. Whitfield is a tricky one, he's currently in 53% of teams so basically you either in one camp or the other and I'm in the FOMO camp. I think if you are 50/50 on both players, in my experience take the player you enjoy watching more, that way you will have less regret when they have a bad game.
