Not watching but what position is Blakey playing ?
Half back and played it about as well as you can in that 2nd quarter, was incredibly good.
So hard to read with no Lloyd back there but Blakey been great.
McCartin one bad kick but otherwise really good, probably a harsh ratio even. He even stole a couple of kickins which is solid. His ball use really good though so not concerned by the bad kick.
Green has been immense.
Heeney better after moving mostly midfield in Q2, had a goal prop up a pretty barren Q1.
Swans missed a couple of shots at goal and that got Whitfield going after he took the kick-ins and picked up some late leather poisoning, probably also an aspect as the heat went out a little late under fatigue that he was still fresh, partly because he was so outside the first 1.5 quarters he's fresher than the rest but also his immense fitness levels don't hurt! Monster last 15 minutes though to all of a sudden be on target for a good game.
Gulden has had a strong role and is cashing it in, looks great.
Florent using up one of his 5 good games early, if he can ever consistently play like this he'll be a gun.
Be so nice if Rowbottom ever learns how to not suck when he has the ball, I love his effort/attitude but yeah...
Taranto fixed a deservingly bad ratio with a nice goal late, role is pretty much as advertised, 50/50 forward/mid for mine.
Kelly one of the few who hasn't really gotten out of 2nd gear, which makes his score all that much better. Reckon he's got a pretty generous call on a couple of his CP which is nice given he usually is on the other end of that. Looks good though and you know he runs it out.
Coniglio has been solid but just not quite enough going to plan, couple of rushed/poor disposals that ended as bad clangers have crippled him and struggling to get back above water. Role is fine, another player who is probably better suited to a slightly less fierce contest as there's just no easy ball in space today.
Sheldrick playing forward pocket, tough role. Done a couple of really nice things and he's hard at it, looks a lot like Gulden without the polish but probably a bit more hardness.
McInerney on the wing as expected, what he's done has been nice but like the other space cadets, there's just no easy outside ball, to his credit he's done a better than normal job of going and getting his own pill but this style of game is going to be hard for his kind.
Campbell filling in for Lloyd, there's just something special about when he has the ball, I just wish he'd be more demanding and work better to get on the end of it. Reminds me of years of Daniel Rich when he was averaging 80s and 90s and as a fan you just wish he'd get twice as much of it, few have ever been able to kick a ball like Campbell can.
Stephens working hard on the wing, same deal as JMc, done a really good job of going and getting his own pill and in the contest in general, got stiffed on his holding the ball as well which hurts going from a contested effective handball that it was to a FA clanger. Been impressed with his contested work. Again, game style doesn't suit his natural style so for him to scrape it together is really impressive signs.
Flynn and Hickey has been a great battle, both are basically winning contests decisively when they win, hence both having big ratios, some really good ruck/midfield connections. Hickey just slightly ahead. Riccardi has been competitive but think the potential Preuss advantage would be significant given how good they've looked when getting first use.
The Buddy centric commentary is kind of intolerable, Buddy actually looks really good but as a non-contested player who wants space, he's another suffering from the game style in this one, Davis also much better in those contests and has always had his number.
In general, just been a great game of footy, funny that my team is in the game but just enjoying the game and reckon it's just a great example of what makes footy great and that's a fierce contest where neither side takes a backwards step. I think both coaches would be filthy on how poor the defensive structures have been given the pressure levels in general, both sides scoring way too easily but just love the tackling and physicality of it, the scoring genuinely takes away from the contest as it stops after each goal
