I have heard from a second hand source, who in their words described their source as ‘reliable’, that the wc game is in very real danger of not going ahead (their words were, wc are in danger of not fielding a team this week) due to covid impacting a lot of the squad.

Rotham now pulling out kind of makes me think there may be something to it. Guess we just watch this space over the coming 24-48 hours

AFL made it clear games would go ahead with top up players.

Thanks for your help Zimmer and HoleyFrijole$
I had a look and yes it works if you trade someone else out swap all 3 around complete the trade with random player, then enact a second trade and trade the original player back into your team an the trade is given back. I was hoping this would be the case but wasn't sure if anything had changed with the new rules

Glad it worked - a lot more flexibility this year

I too bet against both Macrae and Oliver with the Miller, Neale, Cripps, Rowell, Berry M1-5 structure. It did give me more flex to get the "better" rookies and keep most of them off the ground. Unlike @wogitalia I also went with Gawn / Grundy in the rucks, essentially having Gawn there as insurance for the spike VC scores given I wasn't taking Macrae.

I've been gritting my teeth watching Macrae in two games and at this point it's pretty much a BE call. Given so many people are using Macrae as a VC option, for me as long as I find a C score each week that matches or beats Macrae, I've succeeded. On top of that, getting value for money with my other picks and being better able to get potential sh!t scores off the ground in the early rounds, it's a win. (Emergency loopholes are helping there too :p although for the life of me I don't know why I didn't keep the E on McGov last night. Had it there at the start of the week)

Back on Macrae - he appears to have a acquired a golden ticket which is somewhat annoying. Yes, he's improved his kicking over the years but there are still a lot of those awkward grubber kicks that miss targets. Last night's ratio was a little absurd and I feel CD were being a little generous with the "effective" rating at times.

Macrae will no doubt be in my team by seasons end. The true test will be whether I've managed to use the early rounds wisely without him. As Wogi says, it's a long season and the beauty of this game is there are a million ways to win it.
Macraes last quarter was insane last night. Set up 3 scoring shots with 3 excellent kicks and was let down by teammates (Dunkley twice I believe). Unlucky to have not scored higher IMO.

Also got stuck on the bench for a considerable period real late, reckon it could’ve been 4-6 mins of game time (if not more), until Dunkley came off with a touch under two minutes to go.

A few thoughts from last night having gone to the game:

Dogs:

It’s a bit strange to think that less than three games ago we were a goal or two away from icing a Grand Final, but here we are. It’s much the same really: an undersized defence, a largely one-way midfield, and conceding bulk HOtA.

Bont: doing what he can with the ankle, he’s always been largely quality over quantity, but that’s even more so the case now. Could be a sneaky chance for DPP.

Dunkley: like the team as a whole, much of the same. Plenty of the footy but lacking polish.

Dale and Daniel: the latter moved to the wing a bit to accomodate Richards, but not enough for it to be a cause for concern. Both should be good picks considering how often the ball will be down there.

English: fairly scored IMO. Think that’s around a base game for him.

Macrae: keeps on keeping on. Will have much better games, but thought he was just about our best.

Treloar: disposal might be lacking and he can run one-way at times, but at least the effort is there.

Carlton:

They’ve got a super list profile. Keys at both ends entering their prime, a solid midfield and pretty settled all over the ground. Only major queries at the moment is how long they can sustain it, and whether they e got enough polish in midfield.

Cripps: one of the things I noticed was that he wasn’t just lean, his conditioning looked superb. Clear best-on, and he’s now got support around him.

Curnow: looked good, but it was an undersized defence. Will probably have a few more of those games this season.

Hewett: wowee, the last time I can remember hands that good, Simon Black was running around. Pretty-much the prefect game for the role he was playing. Tidied-up a lot, gave cover and swept well - all while keeping accountable. Rated him at the Swans, but reckon there’s still an attacking layer to his game that can take him to the next level.

McGovern: this is a tricky one. Thought he was scored harshly, but could have also given away a couple of 50s. Role was good for an interceptor - was the corridor option at half-back, so could cover both sides if needed, but it also meant he hardly got involved in transition. Will move him on if there aren’t any other things needing addressing, but the big scores will come.

Walsh: didn’t notice him as much as I thought. Cobwebs were there and will be better for the run.

ok im trying to understand why the eagles have so many players missing with covid protocols ? other teams dont seem to be as impacted even freo ?
Do they not take personal hygiene serious ? i have been to a few eagles games and their fans don't :p
In all seriousness why is it so?

Close contact rules still exist in WA.
