MAX GAWN

We need to discuss :geek:

Fading him would give most of us the cash we need to bring in a Cripps/Hewett/Heeney and to replace an onfield rookie which is always nice.

Which ruck to replace him with though?
English seems to be the popular choice on here...
I think a lot are picking English (or Jackson), planning to shift them forward eventually. This might work if they can score at forward keeper level, otherwise I think you should be either looking at a keeper ruck replacement to avoid more trades (which I doubt either of those will be), or going for someone as cheap as possible who can score well enough to take on field for the cash.

I'm definitely on Xerri watch today. If he can score well in a ruck role, which he should against this Eagles team, despite being forward only, I think that makes an English or Jackson a bit more appealing to use as an interim ruck, as I expect he would get DPP in Rd 7. Having that R/F swing would be handy. Not sure how long Hayes will be around to fill that role.

Honestly, not sure who is best to get in. I've got plenty of other potential trade outs I could do instead, but Gawn is looking like he may need to be traded. Interested to see the popular trade ins are (and how Darcy/Xerri goes today) before deciding.

If I traded Gawn out, I would luv to field Hayes at R2, but just not sure if this is viable given the I only have Dixon as cover at R3 😬
This would let me bring in all of Hewett, Cripps & Heeny (for Chapman & Berry) so the upside could be substantial 🤔

In round 2 I went
Baldwin > Durdin
Dusty > Brodie

Leaving me with 341k
Owens > Hewett, swings back via Worner
Hough > Stephens

Annoying that I've used 4 trades to get 3 blokes I had for most of the preseason, but can't change that now, happy with my team, going to miss the Cripps and Heeney trains, not ideal, but I never considered them beforehand, going to keep betting against them for the time being.

I have been thinking about relying on Hayes at R2 as well. Even if for just a couple of weeks. Will be watching today's game closely to see how he goes potentially without the goals.

I'm also considering a straight Gawn to Darcy trade.

Very early thoughts;

OUT: Gawn, Gov, Owens
IN: Marshall/English, Bowey, Xerri/Martin

Lots to think about, pending scores today for Xerri and to a lesser extent Whitfield (and Ryder in the VFL)

Kind of hoping Stef gets named this week and I can resist English. Kind of hoping Ryder gets through the VFL and is brought back.

Could always just do Gov > Bowey which would be a much more disciplined single trade this week!

It'll be a Mid Pricer shake up for me.

INs:

Cripps
Jackson
Bowey

OUTs:

Berry
McGovern
Possibly 1 of Ryan/Whitfield

Rnd 4:

Preuss > Martin via Hayes

Will leave me with 400k for a double upgrade in rnd 6

I don't like leaving that much cash ITB as it should be for points on field but the 2 early upgrades could make up for it, plus there's no one that I want to upgrade yet.

With 204k banked, may just do McGovern to Heeney.

Another consideration could be McGovern to Nic Martin, then Berry to Petracca.

I'm also a Gawn owner so it creates another spanner in the works. Max to English and Berry to Petracca.

Going for a complete shakeup. Hayes into the ruck. I will trade Berry/Ward but think Ward due to him playing very well and only scoring 53. The below trade leave me exactly $1,000 in bank. Might go early on Nic Martin if Xerri no good today

OUT
Gawn, Ward, and Gov

IN
Neale, Heeney, and Xerri
Some great ins but if Ryder is back and Hayes doesn't perform and gets dropped before Xerri gets dpp, R2 is basically cooked.

Yep definitely. Will be watching Hayes closely today to see how well he goes, if he has another great game ill pull the trigger, otherwise, I may try and trade in English. Fair chance its a make or break trade for my season, but I think the potential outweighs the downsides
