After much deliberation and some fairly outlandish plans I’m leaning towards;

OUT: Whitfield, Berry & McGovern
IN: Petracca, Xerri & JHF

Have toyed with the idea of trading Gawn but it’s probably more sensible to hold him and bring in two of the best rookie priced players that I missed. Hopefully Maxy can go at 115 from here. If I was to trade Gawn then I would be relying on Hayes at R2 for a while which feels a touch dangerous.

Whitfield could come good but he has been poor so far, looks fairly disinterested plus he’s made of glass.

I’m neither here nor there with Berry but I need his cash to bring in Norm.

McGovern is no big loss. Will probably post some good scores but also a fair few stinkers plus dat hammy..

Hi guys,

Attached team was from the completion of Rd 2. Don't think ive ever gone around in circles this much over trades before. Have absolutely no clue what to do.

Team has performed well so far, but JHF and to a lesser extent Rachele are probably both required. I'm also open to trading in Bowey.
Other considerations are Witts (via English) & Dunkley.

A number of candidates to cull:

-Weller (got a heap of it in the last qtr rd 1 to make up for an absymal first 3. Then used him as my loophole for Stephens.
-McGovern
-Whitfield/Ridley. Leaning Whitfield if I go down this path
-Berry (a waste, but potentially to bring in JHF)
-Maginess/Mead (suspect neither will be named this week)

My main issue that I keep having is trading a combination of Weller/McGovern + dead rookie results in only being able to field one of JHF/Daicos, unless I trade Berry. I also think Stephens will continue to score very well while McInerney is out so probably also want to keep looping him.

This would only be an issue for the next 3 weeks until Daicos gets DPP after Rd 5.

If someone could clear this mess in my head I'd appreciate it, as I've sat on it for 4 nights straight and still none the wiser.

EDIT: 3.3k rem
Most of us have the Whitfield dilemma this week. However I personally think getting the rookies right takes priority as that'll help your cash gen.
So based on this, a few options to consider as key trades:
McGovern --> Rachele
Maginness --> JHF

If you're keen to use a trade boost:
Mead --> MacDonald

Next week:
Worner --> Nick Martin (via switching Skinner to defence)

Could you go Whitfield to Bowey or similar instead?
I don't think you need 292k up your sleeve when Driscoll/ Skinner aren't looking like making any money - both look like they'll be stuck as the sub more often than not, so could actually lose money if they come on in the last quarter and pop out a 5-10pointer.
On the flip side, the extra 150k you pay for Bowey he potentially makes it in the next 3 weeks then you could always downgrade him to a Driscoll or Skinner or Wilmot if either of them miss a few weeks and are still on the bubble.

Better scoring, better security, better cash cow...
Why would Skinner be the sub for ? Aliir out , Clurey out , McKenzie in doubt who else is playing KPD ?

O'Driscoll debuted as sub , bit hard to base his money making potential on that , maybe if he gets a full time we have a better idea of his scoring.

Some really good debate around wether to trade Gawn or not. Im on the fence, but am leaning towards trading him. Im worried not just about his current drop off, but the fact that Melbourne will rest him one or two games this year considering how well Jackson is performing/improving.

You would have to be a game person at the club to tell Max that he has to have a rest.

Certainly wouldn’t say that a Gawn resting is ‘fact’.

Noticeable absentees from you team are JHF and Rachelle. I think I would be looking at trading those 2 in. Like you said, Mead may not get picked this week. Unfortunately when you start with 3 super premiums, Neale, Cripps, Rowell and Berry, one of JHF or Daicos will be on your bench. It is what it is.
It's a tough one, but maybe Berry or Mead to JHF and Gov to Rachelle. I have JHF, Daicos, Stephens, Ward and MacDonald filling M7-11 and field Daicos and JHF at 7 and 8 atm. Not too concerned about looping mid rookies, just focussing on cash gen. Depending which way you go, you could upgrade Whitfield to Hall if funds allow, or just sit with your defence for the time being.

Interestingly, by rnd 5 I'll have used 8 trades to get to 15 premos inc Cogs, Witts & Hewett, who will be the only MP's left in my team. So pretty much back to Guns n Rookies with 27 trades left to fund 7 upgrades.

hello guys, i made three new trades, just want some feedback on my team overall
Note: Next round im planning to do maginness for xerri but i just want some more confidence on the xerri pick. If i dont like xerri then i can go mcgovern or rayner or gresham or willie rioli
I'm rewarding crisp with the good game he had last week
I have a ton of money so if cripps doesn't do well with a full carlton midfield, im planning to upgrade him to andy brayshaw
have passed up on heeney bcoz that means i trade gawn and idk who to trade him to
anyways here is my team

'Emotional' corrective trades once SC opened last night...

Whitfield, McGovern & Berry > Short, Cripps & Heeney
*Using cash from Gawn > Witts trade last round

Let's see how my emotions plays out during the week but it's a solid corrective set nevertheless based on what has transpired over the first 2 rounds. The only deterrent/consideration for me is what kind of 'value' am I buying into as I've missed their 'hot' starts...?
@stephen @randomcliche et al...

Went over my trade plans with the boss and she has given the green light and approval for the following:

OUTs: Berry, McGovern & Owens
INs: Cripps, Hewett & Rachele

She's a 'boring' but much more sensible and smarter cookie than I am, I'm in good hands. Thanks again guys...:)
Quickly while the boss is not around...

Just quietly, I think my 'emotional' response on trades still has some merits over the boss' approval. Don't quote me, just like the post as I know who I'm looking out for a response! :cool:

Based on the evidence presented hereabouts I'm now looking at keeping pod Gawn and trading Berry. Kind of wanted to give Berry another game but I'm now leaning towards extending that olive branch to Gawn. First season I've ever started with him so I can't admit defeat this quickly...just got to hope he tidies up his game a bit and the better scores should return.

Nonetheless, will hedge my bets and bring the 4th highest averaging forward, Luke Jackson, into the frontline for McGovern.
I can then move Jackson to replace Gawn if he continues to look mediocre. Hopefully though, Gawn and Jackson get to hold down their respective positions for a while, and it also lets me further assess the likes of Preuss, Meek, Witts, English as possible ruck candidates as really there is potentially only one ruck spot available and that's Gawn's (Grundy R2 and Hayes R3).

Whitfield, Berry, McGovern to Bowey, Jackson and Butters.
