Ratten and the match committee inside Moorabbin now need to determine if they can play mature-age recruit Jack Hayes in the same 22 as Rowan Marshall and Ryder.

Hayes was a revelation in round one, producing a stunning debut performance that attracted five coaches votes – just over a fortnight after he was added to St Kilda's rookie list – and produced a serviceable effort against the Dockers, finishing with 12 disposals, six hitouts and four tackles in the 10-point win.

"We are going to have a look at it [playing all three]. We had a little bit of an experiment here today with being taller and smaller. We will finalise that today. It's going to be touch and go either way.

I'm going to run Hayes R2 until Xerri gets ruck post R5 and feel a little sick about doing so. Reading between the lines they'll likely play all 3 this week and if it doesn't work Hayes is in trouble. Annoyingly he'll probably be named on the extended bench in team sheets to mess with their opponent.

The GIANTS will unleash ruckman Braydon Preuss for his highly-anticipated club debut this weekend against the Gold Coast Suns.

Preuss played 18 games for North Melbourne and Melbourne before being traded to the Giants after the 2020 season.

Injury curtailed the 206cm, 113kg ruck form playing any senior footy in 2021, while pre-season back surgery meant he wasn’t ready for the opening few games.

But after a strong VFL showing against Port Melbourne where he kicked 1.1 from 21 disposals and 41 hit-outs, Preuss will come into the side to give Matt Flynn some support.

“He’ll play,” Giants coach Leon Cameron told reporters on Thursday. “He gets his opportunity, he gets his first game in Giants colours.

Local chatter on the Perth Wireless today is that some of the eagles players are still impacted by Covid and wont be available, plus some new players going into iso hence the delay in teams, as soon as I find a link will share it.

On a separate note, anyone else expecting some serious mean reversion in terms of scoring this week? surely we cant all be cracking 2,400 again with highest round scores being up around 2650+!
