I dislike that the AFL try’s to force people who want to watch football today into watching the womens league, GF or not. No footy on a Saturday until 4 oclock is akin to a war crime.
I've tried watching the AFLW. I really have. And I think it's a great initiative and the increase in girls playing footy is obviously worth it.
But I just can't make it stick. I always end up watching the Elvis movie instead.

What GF ?

Unless they are playing it later tonight after the 2 PF's , bit hard to expect one team to travel though on the same day to play a second game that night 😉

Although yes as I previously posted that was the idea behind it to give the AFLW GF "free air".

Don't follow the AFLW at all but actually don't mind the thought process.

More exposure they can get can only be better for long term development.

NORTH Melbourne players and officials will wear black armbands in tonight's clash with Brisbane in honour of former player Red Og Murphy who has suddenly and tragically passed away in Ireland.

Family and the authorities in Ireland are yet to confirm the cause of the 21yo's shock death.

North Melbourne released a statement on Saturday saying the club was deeply saddened by the news and expressed condolences to the Murphy family.

Murphy was on the Roos' list in 2019 after he was taken as a Category B rookie from his home club in county Sligo.

Our thoughts are with those closest to Red Og, his family and friends in his home in Ireland, and all those who played and worked alongside him and became friends with him during his time at North Melbourne
- Ben Amarfio
North Melbourne CEO Ben Amarfio said: "On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to pass on my deepest sympathies to the Murphy family at this difficult time.

"Our thoughts are with those closest to Red Og, his family and friends in his home in Ireland, and all those who played and worked alongside him and became friends with him during his time at North Melbourne."

Murphy spent 2019 developing his game with the Roos' VFL team before returning to Ireland at the end of that season.

He wore No.45 for North Melbourne in his 12 VFL games and showed keen improvement across the season, kicking two goals against Footscray in his final match for the club in 2019.

Upon his return to Ireland he starred for his local club Curry GAA and county Sligo.

Forgot the Adelaide game was on at last night and had Rachele on field - was intending to have him benched after my trades.

Annoying, annoying, annoying.

It's also stuffed up the structure of those trades. Might have to let Hewett slip by which is annoying coz it was was key a reason for trading Gawn.

Otherwise I'll have to bench Whitfield and Martin's 71 will stay on the bench.

Help!

Does it look like Butters will miss games?

Wondering if I leave Hewett and spend the cash on English to replace Butters?

Any opinions.

@Bomber18 seeing you're around?

The SPP bump was in the first quarter and he still played 83% TOG, so I’m not overly concerned about him missing. [I started him in SC and just brought him in in DT.]

Thanks @Darkie. What do you reckon about my other conundrum - post above that one. Hewett was definitely coming in before the stuff up with Rachelle. Is Hewitt a must have? I guess it's only one round the structure will be a mess - but I've already traded Gawn so it seems I should complete the plan despite the structure benching Whitfield and missing Martin's E points.

Any opinions on this @wogitalia ?

Sydney have let some good players go.
For considerable unders most of the time as well which makes it hurt double. The Dawson trade was probably the worst of the lot but the Mitchell one still stings.

Probably our best trade of the last 5 years (outward) is paying St Kilda to take Hanners.

Ultimately the Buddy and Tippett contracts have cost us an awful lot.

19 actually feels too low, I could have sworn Jelly got about 30 for a game winner last year. I think Oliver also had a similar one in his 209 and they didn't even win!
Difference is that Dawson's goal is only a kick and goal while Kelly's last year was a contested possession, clearance, kick and goal. If Dawson had earned the free kick that he took he'd have got 30 as well pretty comfortably.

Butters really should miss a couple for his bump in the 4th (iirc), was considerably worse than Robinson or Kreuger who both got a week, this one he ran past the ball to snipe a guy in the head. Might get lucky that the media didn't focus on it and the player got straight back up but it was a stupid play.

Was even luckier that he cleaned up his own teammate a couple of minutes later on a stupid flying bump into a marking contest with zero attention on the ball, if he'd hit the Crow like he hit Georgiades he'd have been in big trouble.

He just completely lost control in the 4th, hard with those players like him who play right on the edge but just not making any smart decisions there.

He's in almost all sides is the only positive and I do think he's a chance to avoid suspension given no one is talking about it.

So Dawsons goal worth less than Chapmans round 1 spoil 🤣
Macrae's 50m that led to a goal somehow punished half as much as Rachele's that led to a point that got his team back possession and let them win the game is the bigger takeaway on those stats. I'm not saying the Rachele one is wrong, that actually feels right, but the Macrae one, well I might be suggesting something there

Yep, just the nature of SC. Going to have a few made up scores every now and then.

I’m inclined to agree with this re completing the plan - if you think the trade is compelling, I’d probably just cop the structure issue this week.

A 71 from a rookie isn’t worth changing trades over in my view, and I actually traded Whitfield this round, so benching him doesn’t seem terrible to me.

I’m somewhat skeptical that Hewett will be a top defender with the Carlton mids all playing, but if you’re not as heavy as me in that position, you may not need him to be.

Very harsh on Butters mate.
Plays hard but is not a sniper

It's because scaling is a black box.
Macrae, the dogs ended up winning, so the action is scaled less impactful than Rachele where the game did change, so was ranked more impactful.
Unfortunately Champion Data will never reveal the scaling secret sauce as that's their hard earned IP.
Every year there are these oddities. I agree, they both should get similar outcomes but computer says no
