Strategy 2022: Round 4 Trades

On Green, as good as he looks, 2 of his 3 best scores in 2021 were when he kicked 2 goals (111 and 123) and he went under 100 in 14/15 of his other games.

This year, his two best scores are when he kicked 2 goals (164 and 147) - not sure how often he is going to be doing that (2/17 last year)

That being said, he's also at 29+ possessions in all 3 games this year when that was his peak last year.

Could be a keeper but I really struggle to see him kicking 2 goals a game (or even averaging a goal a week for the rest of the season)
Might be able to average 110+ without the goals though still!

Taking a great deal of strength to stop me from trading Berry to Green - Loving Green's role, he's right up there and appears to be the got to man for CBA's and ahs the body for it. Must resist the urge but it's not easy.

NT..................trust your observation of Green..................he's the next 'bull' and even looks like Lachie Neale at times...............and you can't say that about many.

And I'm talking thru my kick..............I put him in myself last round.............he looked that promising.

Don't hesitate mate............his BE this round is a piddly 45x.................and could/should go up another $31K plus this round.

Yeah he only went 29+ disposals once last year, he's done that all three games already for this season. His I50 numbers are strong along with clearances, a tough pick now after one price rise but definately still worth it obviously if he can keep his numbers up. Great starting pick though.

Hopper out also gives further strength to his case - for me I need to make a delayed decision on carrying Gawn/Whitfield and Crisp or to move, albeit a week late and the long term ramifications either way on this. I know many will say it's too late but I've been in this situation several times where more damage is done being proud and carrying underperforming guns weeks on end and bleeding money/points.

Hopper out also gives further strength to his case - for me I need to make a delayed decision on carrying Gawn/Whitfield and Crisp or to move, albeit a week late and the long term ramifications either way on this. I know many will say it's too late but I've been in this situation several times where more damage is done being proud and carrying underperforming guns weeks on end and bleeding money/points.

Without sounding 1x dimensional NT............observation ............the key word when in doubt.

As good as Lachie Whitfield has been...............he's been ordinary at best imh..............far from the player he's been at his best and that's apart from the injury angle raising its head with him. He's cheap granted but not cheap from what I've seen this year......................could change of course..............but let others gamble with him.

As far as Maxi.............kicks straighter and gives away less free's and his scores are beaut imh................and Crisp is great too.

If your bank and team structure allows it.........................Whitfield to Green...............turn a loser into a winner all round fwiw

Thomson Dow had a game high 29 CBAs. He might be one we later regret not having taken. So hard to see many picking him though, at 199k and with Martin this week too. And with none of the popular cows really ready for culling. Mead is another I wonder about? Has had one price rise, but only small due to being sub r2. 18 poss, 8 cp and a few clearances off a wing (+ a few CBAs) in a showdown impressed me. So you'd think he's not the sub again for a bit.

My strat this year is to use the extra trades for cycling through more rookies, a bit earlier/quicker than usual, to try to generate more cash total. And just risk not needing them for covid outs, or having made more points with this strat to make up for it. The hope would be HnS protocol outs are usually just the one week too. An example could be cashing in Rachele/Berry now (who definitely have a bunch more money to make) to a Mead/Dow. Other years I wouldn't dream of that.

I already have Martin. have 145k and wanna at least try this aggro strat. So I'm considering A) Rachele to Mead, Berry to Green or B) Rachele to Gollant, Berry to English. Am I crrrrazy?

I would not be surprised to see Tyler Sonsie debut this week after 34 possessions in the Magoos!

Considering the Gawn trade out myself as well @NT.Thunder a week late yes, but the kicker for me is being able to get Hough up to Cripps who I missed last week with other issues. Gawn to Preuss would be the move for me, guess you're the same?

Sure Cripps has risen as well, but still only priced at 94 right now. Surely he's presenting a heap of value still at 518k I see potentially ~20 PPG value right there.

What are your thoughts on D.Rioli TT and that role he's playing? I possibly need to look at one of Blakey, Rioli, Bowey or Chapman.

For a start Rioli has the HBF role, it is his to lose.
He has never been the same since injuring his foot, that is why I think I can not see him being moved to back to the forwards (Baker and Stack).
Richmond like to use Rioli out of the backline, so he is a solid choice and the way they are playing, he should see plenty of it.

I know. Sometimes the hard and fast rules need to be broken to get better. Who says it's too late to go? If it works it works, you're ahead anyway. Going "late" on a player doesn't mean you've lost if it works. If it doesn't work it's frustrating. But if you're left carrying those underperformers and in hindsight, it would have been better to go for broke, it's even more frustrating when you hold off.

There's a lot of luck involved, but that's what I was on about with my SC history last round. I generally observe the conservative rules, and consistently finish around 5k give or take - respectable, but... I want to beat my previous best finish of 300 or so.

Trying to get that break, change it up... its a game of chess. Bloody hard. And you know you're going to be harder on yourself if it goes wrong - or that's my habit anyway. A personal habit that if I break might help me in many areas of my life.

Still, after round 5 or 6 you're still in it or you're not. Not saying that the Green trade is the right one, but it's one of those one's that can make or break a good or a great year.

That's said, the variables involved at the moment make it even harder. Good luck whichever way you go.

Sometimes I try to remind myself that the guys up in the actual coaches' boxes coaching these actual teams make mistakes... how do they detal with it. But also the decisions they make risky decisions that win games, and legendary premierships. It's different in many ways, but you keep going - deal with what you've got in front of you.

Sometimes, when the time is right, breaking the rules is the way to go. I could have got that Telecaster cheaper last week, but I still want it and believe it will perform better than the one that won't hit the notes I want.

Mate you're 100% right and that's my life to a T - conservative, not a risk taker and consistent and that's pretty much how I've played a fantasy footy all my life. I always say I'll take a risk but never do and then just kick myself when I know I should've. I'm a gut feel type player also......

There's plenty in here I think like myself that take Fantasy Football more serious than their work I certainly know it can shape my weekend depending on what happens Thurs/Fri nights

The same author has been posting articles on Playbook for NRL for at least last season and possibly the season before that. I cannot recall him posting many for AFL, so it seems like a new addition to the system.
