Suggestions on which bench player to dump to fund Marshall to English or an alternative proposed. Ideally I would like to open the opportunity whether now or when dual position changes are announced to move a def/fwd to the fwd bench, English to the forward line, Coniglio to the midfield and Daicos to the backline (if he receives def/mid status) which allows me to bring in Preuss as my second ruck which would move one of McCartin/Hinge to the bench.
Out: R Marshall and D Stephens
In: B Preuss and T Dow

$319,400 remaining salary to hopefully fund an upgrade of Maginness/etc to Oliver/Steele/Petracca in the coming month on the assumption that Xerri and Daicos receive dual position status.

Maybe. I have Durdin on the bench and Dow wouldn't push anyone off the ground but that could be the case for others. We're guessing on Dow's ability to score and keep that role. Durdin's job seems secure, he has more cash to make and is good for looping this weekend.
To me it just looks like itchy fingers.
For mine the consideration is all around timing, it's looking like teams will be upgrading a bit more earlier on with a lot of the midpricers we're sitting on doing pretty well, so having Dow moo at possibly 400k-ish sooner than Durdin (or in my case Stephens) might get to 300k could be worth sacrificing 70-80k of cash gen in the medium to long term.

We're already sitting on a number of slower burners and potentially looking at some of the DPP additions we were hoping for (eg. Daicos, JHF, etc) perhaps not coming to pass early on in the season, so the value of being able to get a fattened cash cow out the door earlier might be an enticing one for many.

Think I'm leaning that way too - appreciate the support. Not the best feeling having Stephens, Hayes and Durdin not making cash this week but think most are in a similar boat.
And Preuss won't be making money this round either.

Who will O'Driscoll lose his spot to?
Serong and Tucker probably the only two best 22 players to come back in to the side in the short term...

So you'd suspect he might be one of the first to go out, but obviously it's his spot to lose currently

With Hayes now dropped, I'm now questioning the value of my Marshall to English trade. Is the assumption that he's only out temporarily (another test of the "talls")? Or is it more permanent?

Thoughts?

(Have already used 5 trades so far (incl. 1 for this week), and likely to bring in Preuss next week).

Thinking of rolling Crisp > Doc.

Why is Doc such a POD? Surprised people haven't been clamoring to get him in already?

Why not? 160 points a pretty good starting point…..

Whilst Pruess is a strong selection I wouldnt personally have traded Gawn to make that change….
could move on Jack Hayes ( been dropped this week) or a slow burning rookie instead….

Time will tell on the outcome….always dependant on a needs basis …
Preuss seems wasted on the bench as a Hayes replacement though? Gawn has to go to fit him on field basically…

Preuss 100 + Cripps 120 = 220
Gawn 160 + Ward 50 = 210

Gawn played the best game ever and it still might not be enough to beat the Preuss/Cripps combo…

I'm glad I kept gawn. But still have the option of Grundy to Preuss. Haven't seen much of the pies. How is Grundy travelling?

The trade would be Grundy to Preuss. Stephens to English pushing Rachele into the mids and opening a link

Nah, the committee was 50/50 on running three talls and now he is dropped, so expect it will only revert maybe 1 in 3 or 4 games where the match up works better, vs losing forward pressure.

Marshall is impacted by Ryder in the side as well as preferred ruckman. English is better alternative than Marshall as I think he has a contract on the line, has expressed desire to be the ruck, Bulldogs will want to appease him if he is ok in that role (makes up ave taps with disposals) and the alternative is 35 years old.

Having said that will not surprise if Stef plays a few games though the season as a pinch hitter for tough ruck match ups. Naughton injury would also force their hand.

Bottom line, Marshall to English is sound, as Ryder is a bigger issue than Stef.

Feel for Hayes, thought he did a good job up forward including getting on his knees for some tough ground ball gets. Its a pity Ryder is a much better ruck than Marshall (by circa 10% win rate) although only had a few disposals last week.

Key Hayes though. If Ryder gets injured you will hate yourself for trading Marshall and Hayes will provide the compensation factor.

Posted in wrong thread dammit. (Gameday) try again.

Am I getting trigger happy going:
Hayes to Preuss and Stephens to Dow?
Used 3 trades last week. None this week so far.

Given the remainder of your rookies are available this round, I do not mind using the one trade on Stephens to Preuss (via Rachele and Hayes) instead if you expect Hayes to return soon to take advantage of the negative breakeven.

Any chance Hayes being sub? Could be dangerous.

How many Round 12 Byes can you have in the Defence (Short, Crisp, Ridley, Whitfield & Hewett)?
Thinking of rolling Crisp > Doc.

Crisp has the rnd 14 bye and I only have Hewett in Def with the rnd 12 bye.

Pretty simple equation for me.....2 down this week, Bowey > Docherty next week with the funds generated.
