I'm a little stuck this week. I'm coming off an absolute shocker last round and it doesn't feel like there's much I can do about it right now aside from getting NOD in for Stephens and hoping things turn around for me.

Am I missing any obvious moves?
Owens to M/F donut and one of Ward/MacDonald/Stephens to O’Driscoll was my first instinct without giving it to much thought.
I’d probably hold off until after Xerri has played however before committing.

So NOD seems to be the consensus pick this week, bit how reliable is he, and is he going to be a multi week option.

The against are the likes of Tucker etc returning, and the fact that he's had the 100 last week, bit less than 50 the previous 2 weeks (sub affected? I don't watch close enough to know). It screams to me that there's a risk planning beyond this week's price rise.

O know Erasmus isn't DP, and has the same issues around returning players, but it doesn't seem that it's a lay down misere that NOD is the best rookie pickup at Freo, let alone across the league...

Am I overthinking?
NOD first game was only a 1/4 as sub, which has kept his price low. Seems a good scoring rookie with good to solid JS.

I know very sideways but any consideration of going Ryan > Short? Ryan has only had 1 high scoring game so far, it seems Chapman/Young/Clark all in the backline is effecting his scoring this season. Short has been super consistent scoring over 100 every round & in his role I can see that happening all season long/ certain top 6 defender.
My defenders are a real problem, last week was a nightmare. I've already used one sideways trade on Ridley to Lloyd for no benefit so far, it's probably not worth trying again.
@McLovin

A weak mid to NOD via Rachele and SDK (NOD in defense) might help get the better rookies on field, and/or open up more DPP flex.
Cheers, that's perfect. Gets Ward off the field and allows me to cover Hinge with a non key defender.

North supporters (or anyone else with a view on it):

Luke McDonald presumably picks up DPP.

Had the one aberrant score, else two solid scores down back and one solid score last week on the wing (should really have gone close to 150, his DE by foot let him down on several occasions).
Any merit in the selection or accident waiting to happen?

Two years ago he was fantastic only to be injured for so much of last year. We have definitely changed up our style under Noble and I didn't think the points would be there for him with Hall and Ziebell back there. Ziebs' success last week up forward will definitely help Lmac's role, but I can't see Ziebs staying forward for the rest of the year.
In saying all of this, I am really unsure where he will be come seasons end. I can see him going above 90 again and its a steal for the price, but will he be able to keep up with the likes of Hall, Lloyd, Short, Hewett, Stewart etc, I don't think so

That's also my main concern with Dixon. Williams isn't good enough to ruck solo, Dixon isn't a ruck at all. The Eagles are such a ruck dependent side that they're going to need Williams and Strnadica.
Dixon at least makes a contest at ground level and applies presure on the opposition Ruckman, Williams is hopeless at both aspects, its actually laughable he got drafted If I'm putting it bluntly the guys got no idea.

It's a big opportunity now for Williams with NN out for 12 weeks. When drafted, I was quite excited about him as a prospect, very athletic with a big leap but very raw - I have been waiting for him the last 3 years to really come on to come as an AFL level ruck but have been very disappointed. He occasionally shows glimpses ( v North in the 2nd half this year for example) but most of the time he goes missing. Crunch time for him now, Strnadica was excellent in the WAFL last year & if he didn't get injured in the preseason I would not of been surprised if he was picked ahead of Williams. Dixon's last quarter v pies last week should of been shown to Williams on repeat, that is what is expected from him at ground level. If he doesn't produce on Fri pm I would expect Strnadica to come in for him the following week.

Id be playing Strnadica tomorrow night to be honest, miles higher level talent IMHO and has been holding his own in the WAFL for years, Simpson has a love affair with Bailey Williams though so fully expecting hell get the first nod.

agree. Have been cautious on Bailey preseason and still the same.

If Strnadica comes in, in future weeks, expect ot is for Bailey unless Dixon has underperformed. Simmo has shown his current preference for back up ruck and forward player is Dixon. Oscar hopefully pushes waterman out.

Re Ports Hayes, do we yet know how long Lycett is out. Saints Jayes may hang around longer even when Ryder is back. Hopefully so else has maced out as I expect Saints Hayes needs 7-8 games to mature and will gradually get that.

Your team is as good as any going around on paper, just had bad weeks from a few premos and an unexpected DNP from Stewart.

The question I'd be asking is whether the thought process behind selecting your premos initially has changed over the first four weeks (scores aside)? Has there been a change of role, issues around injury or TOG or anything else of that more predictive nature which would want to make you look elsewhere?

If so then look at moving those players on. If not then you may just be riding out a flat period for premos who are known to produce high scores consistently, because nothing in your premo's averages screams "hit the panic button" from where I'm sitting.

The glaring hole in my side is Macrae (who plays North this week!), so he's a pretty clear target.
This may mean something, this may mean nothing:
Nth have played: Haw, WC, Bris, Syd.
Those teams have so far played:
Haw: Nth, Port, Carl, StK
WC: GC, Nth, Fre, Coll
Bris: Port, Ess, Nth, Geel
Syd: GWS, Geel, WB, Nth
When looking at what the highest scoring Mid has scored against Nth in each game this year, then comparing to what the highest scoring Mid has scored for that same team, in the other games this year, they are only scoring 2% higher against Nth.

Here is the comparative table for Rucks and mids after Round 4. Looking at only the highest scoring Ruck or Mid eligible player for each team, each Round.

Not sure how much chance there is of McDonald getting DPP - he's been plying his trade on the wing mostly hasn't he?

This is my plan
So if Neale goes big as my VC, I trade Connor Macdonald down to a 102K dpp who i can use as a loophole
If Neale doesn't go big and Erasmus is named, I go and trade Macdonald to Erasmus
If Neale doesn't go big and Erasmus doesnt get named, regardless of what happens with Macdonald, no trade happens

Considering the following:
Gibcus --> NOD
MacDonald --> Bailey J Williams

This allows one more price rise out of Ward/Stephens. Then can trade one of them next week for Preuss?
What do you all think? Also I haven't used any trades this season yet.
Gibcus to NOD will be popular and one I’m considering…

Gibcus only set to increase by 16k….NOD gets close to his dollars with another improved showing this week and will grow cash quicker…
