Was Balta only back because Tarrant was missing ?

Be interesting if Short stays in the mids with Cotchin & Dusty back , certainly offers them something different though.
Not 100% sure.
I don't know how they all fit, we also went back to the 2 rucks and a fwd line of Lynch/Jack/Balta/resting ruck didn't work so far.
Anything on that front would be guesswork imo.

I was shocked to see Short at the first CB, would like to see him against a team that isn't totally cooked before we can say if it's actually a good move.

Pre-trades, 430k itb, (Rank 6.2k) i'm thinking:

1: NOD to Petracca (via Daics)
2: Dixon to Clark
3: Ward to Parker

19k left in the bank after trades.

Midfield will be: Steele, Macrae, Neale, Oliver, Miller, Petracca, Cripps, Brodie (Clark, Hobbs, Stephens). Can loop Brodie & Clark this week (if Stephens not named). Won't be able to loop the two next few weeks after, not ideal if Clark goes big and he's not onfield on the bench.

Forward line will be: Dunkley, Parker, Treloar, Butters, Coniglio, N.Martin (C.MacDonald, Rosas).

Defence is my weakest line, currently: Hewett, Short, Ridley, Bowey, Daicos, Gibcus (McCartin, SDK)

Rucks strong: Gawn, Preuss (S.Hayes)

I really want/need to strengthen my defence, i could bring in any premo if i don't end up getting Parker this week but it's now or never for Parker.

I'm pretty committed to the first two trades of NOD to Trac, Dixon to Clark, but not sure whether i should upgrade Bowey to premo defender or go with Ward to Parker; not ideal trading out Ward either, still has a bit more cash to make but someone has to make way for Parker.

Appreciate any thoughts or opinions or other options. Thanks in advance.

People are chasing last week's points with many trade ideas here IMO.
Chasing last week's points? By targeting Parker and Short? A top 6 forward and a top 6 defender?

Dylan Moore I'm more inclined to agree with you on. He has no premo scoring history and is overachieving in a role that isn't necessarily too SC-friendly. Just an outstanding talent, not sure if it's sustainable.

Speaking of chasing last week's points, anyone looking to bring in big Tommy Lynch? :ROFLMAO:

I would hold off on the Petracca trade as the cash is better utilised down back given you are fielding two rookies and Bowey whilst relegating Clark to the bench. I would move Brodie to the forward line via McDonald to the midfield which will allow Clark to be moved onfield as the replacement for Ward/Stephens and push Dixon to the bench.

An option could be:
Out: P McCartin, N O’Driscoll and D Stephens
In: L Parker (via N Daicos and W Brodie), S Pendlebury and G Clark

Def: G Hewett, J Short, S Pendlebury, J Ridley, J Bowey, N Daicos, (J Gibcus and S De Koning)
Mid: J Steele, J Macrae, L Neale, C Oliver, T Miller, P Cripps, W Brodie, G Clark, (B Hobbs, J Ward and C MacDonald)
Ruck: M Gawn, B Preuss, (S Hayes)
Fwd: J Dunkley, L Parker, A Treloar, Z Butters, S Coniglio, N Martin, (H Dixon and M Rosas)

Thanks so much for your detailed input Conn, very much appreciated and great thoughts that i'll have to chew over this week. Yeh i've been keeping my eye on Pendles, Zorko, Doch, Sicily (missed the boat last week, bloody Rosas) & the like, wanting to get one of them in this week or next possibly. Cheers & good luck going forward.

Yeah Dogs & Sydney sharing the bye really makes it difficult to build the ideal Dunkley, English, Bont, Heeney & Parker big 5 forward line before Round 13...
You can swing most of them to the midfield with DPP. I don't see the issue with loading up one line with the same bye players as long as your whole team isn't too stacked.

Out: J Berry, J Rachele and J Hayes
In: G Clark, C Hamilton and M Gawn (via H Dixon)
1 boost remaining

The wait a week on Gawn or possible English option and complete* backline.
D Zorko and S Pendlebury replacing M Gawn and C Hamilton as ins.

Final boost to be used next round to grab Gawn to replace Dixon thus pushing S Hayes to R3 by downgrading O’Driscoll and Daicos to Hamilton and Carroll, etc.

Provided you don't have Macrae , Mills & Smith in your mids to cover as well.

Doubt to many people will have 3-4 F/M's in their midfield to swing in any case.

Every completed side is going to look very similiar.
Looks like defence is the line to be different.

Mids seem to be the 5 Amigos + Steele + Petracca/Smith + anyone from a field of 6-8.

Forwards could all be Bont , Dunkley , English , Heeney & Parker + 1.

Dusty (or Taranto) could be a handy POD.

Just realised I could also boost and grab Parker for Diacos this week.
No one seems overly worried about his 39 vs North, had plenty of TOG, what went wrong that week?

Vlas is my 2nd favourite player, but he's not durable enough for SC.
He's just playing really well, his big game against Dee's they were well on top, and our other best intercept player was at FF still.
Looks like they've moved Balta back which is good, and the Short midfield move means Vlas is now the #1 kickout man.
Before he came back Broad was scoring well, just a product of our gameplan this year it seems.
Round 12 bye tho, yuck.
Buddy injured himself that game and Parker played forward 2H.

However, he scored more of his points 2H looking at spread of dream team scores from quarter to quarter.

Had 18 possessions, 3 FA and DE at 50%.

The swing doesn’t really help if you already have Macrae, Miller & Bailey Smith/Mills sitting on the mid bench though. Most teams would have at least 2 of those players you would think.

Think it's the week for a Sicily, Vlastun, Zorko or Stewart.

Wishing I'd held Gawn, though the cash made through his trade was important. I knew he would do what he did last year. Wish I'd found some other way to do it.
I personally am not bothered, we all knew he'd go large this week with Jackson out, the proof in the pudding will be how he goes with Jackson back.

With the opportunity to downgrade moreso in the mids & forwards next week, I'll be looking to double upgrade in the defenders this weekend.

If you could pick any two defenders to grab other than Witherden, Hewett, Short & Ridley (regardless of cost) who would they be and why?

Stewart - proven gun
Crisp - 107 5 round avg, very dependable & durable - hasn't missed a game in 7 years.
