This is where I'm at currently. 32k in the bank.

Hoping we can get away with a light on backline. Would be happy to start any of last year's D1-5, I just don't wanna pay 600k for multiple of them.

Really like the midfield, think Parish would be the one given the flick if I need to fix up other lines.

Don't love having 2 picks that are basically tied to hoping their teammates stay at the other end of the ground (Cumming), or totally out of the team (Cameron). Think the rest is pretty straightforward and standard.

It will be interesting to see how Steele is deployed by Lyon.

I have gone to the Reject Shop for the backs eschewing the preseason favourite Dawson, seemingly risky but I believe McGrath, Weller and Williams provide better value at their price point.

In the midfield I have gone the 5 premiums using the bargain basement Tom Mitchell, of the other 4 I have selected one from each bye to minimise midfield exposure. I have ignored Neale as I will be using him as an upgrade target and I am unsure the affect of the recruitment of Dunkley and Ashcroft.

In the rucks I have selected the only ruck that I expect to hold value in Witts. I have also selected Rowan Marshall which is a bit risky as I expect Ross Lyon to use him in the forwards with Tom Campbell to be utilised more often now that Ryder has retired.

In the forwards I have selected Darcy Cameron, it enable coverage for the byes in the rucks with returning forwards Allen and King to be stable but unspectacular scoring.

This has allowed for a possible 13 premiums to start with.

Funny I was just wondering what price zac Williams was! 425k. Hmm. I was hoping for less than that! Defenders are tricky. I'm still waiting for a magic defender who will suddenly take hundreds of kickins!

Initial reactions
- Hall too much role uncertainty to lock in yet, Ziebell in Sicily like role??? I'm looking to see what aspects of the Hawks game style Clarko implants before locking in to many Nth players. Cunnington not in my team for same reason.
- Love the Green pick.
- Love the Darcy pick.
- JHF pick is brave / awkward.

Hey mate, gotta say I'm not a huge fan of your backline, your top 3 defenders have a habit of missing games and only scoring in the 80's if that. I reckon Constable in place of Francis would allow you to upgrade one of them, Francis hasn't ever really shown anything SC-wise.
Maybe downgrading one of your top 4 mids would allow 2 upgrades in defence? Love the rest of the side, thought about Witts also cause I started him last year and he was great, think I'm going with Grundy though cause it saves 100 grand.
Lots of choices this year, hard to get the balance right but I reckon we need at least a couple of keepers from the start in our defence and forward lines. Cheers.

Can the season start already? I think I am just aiming to be competetive this year after a couple of flat years in terms of ranking - last year my worst except for maybe my first year back when Jonathan Brown was an option. Will go The Yeo/Bowes/Hopper/Fyfe/Thomas gauntlet until they slowly drop out through injury etc. Looking at Hawks, Bomber and Giants mids as likley replacements if needed.

Thoughts?

Is Mitch Duncan role in the defence going to reduce Tom Stewart scoring opportunities?

Jack Bowes selecton is very speculative, I know Geelong has made a commitment for him to play, but the issue is when and how many.
