Games changed with all the extra trades, burning trades on failed mid-pricers is no longer as damaging as it used to be.
You young whipper snappers don’t know you’re born. In my day we had 7 defenders, 7 forwards, 6 mids, 2 ruck bench spots, 20 trades, 1 shot at a captain score and when we got home our dad would thrash us to sleep with his belt if we were LUCKY.

HAHA in my day we had to walk 37 miles to school every morning carrying a Sheep in each hand because we couldn't afford gloves.
Later in the day, at 3 pm when school let out, we skated home, using the sheep as off road roller skates.

That is not a cookie cutter team Jim! :) but by jingo, it could just work!.....imagine if you started Gawn and Grundy and they bothe averaged 115 for the year and you didn't have to do any extra ruck trades?
Ruck trades cost me 6 plus trades last year.
I was thinking that the other day, 115 from both would be great, not out of the realms.

Like the Bruhn pick, also on my watch list along with winghager.

Jeka in DEF, what have you heard out of the Hawks. ?????
Not much, with the Lewis injury, I'm thinking it's opened an opportunity whether it draws another defender forward and he gets a defender role, or they slot him forward. Waiting for that practice match. Gunston gone as well.

The worry I have with a combination of Gawn and Grundy is that it'll give the Demons options to rest both at different stages throughout the season for minor niggles or to freshen up later in the year.

I too am not finding any confidence in the rucks again this year.

That is a legit worry, surely they both don't play every game together?

We're back in 2023.

Have had a few attempts around so far and settled here for now.

Have struggled with the balance - would love to have Sic, Daws, Young and Daicos all in the backline but have pulled Daicos currently - thinking he might cop a tag or two this year.

English and Lycett are the questionable two currently. Would much prefer a Cameron, Grundy or Marshall at F2 especially with no coverage currently so might force a change there if there's some lower price rookie bolters that help the bench cash.

Can see myself potentially being forced into taking Green over Kelly to free up the cash to fix rucks / if there's any issues in preseason.

Keen for any thoughts - cheers

In 2012 Cox (30yo, $662.6k) went 112.3 from 22 games. Naitanui (21yo, $508.8k) went 114.2 from 20 games.

The two games Naitanui missed were Rds 6 and 7 with hamstring tightness (he was named for Rd 6 but was a late out).

He carried a groin complaint through the tail end of the season during which period he posted 3 of his top 4 highest scores of the season (164, 163, 153). After West Coast were knocked out in the semis he had groin surgery.

In terms of structure, one would be named in the ruck and the other in a forward pocket alongside JJK or on the bench. JJK did his ankle in Round 5, so thereafter FF and CHF were shared between Lynch and Darling with Cox/Naitanui resting in the pocket.

1062 hitouts and 48 goals 26 between them. West Coast finished 5th with 15 wins. They went alright in the finals too, 148/125 (Cox mentioned first) against Goldstein/Petrie in a demolition of North at Subiaco and 98/91 against Jolly in a tight loss to Collingwood at the MCG.

Anyway. That's all ancient history now. Julia Gillard was PM for Christ's sake.

Sheep, pfft. you must have been rich.

We had to walk 40 miles to school bare foot on a road nothing more than a goat track. When the frostbite started getting bad in my toes I would find a fresh cow patty to warm my feet up again.

I had to wake up 4 hours before I went to bed, eat a cup of cold toenail clippings for breakfast, work 23 hours in the factory and come home to get thrashed to sleep with a pair of old bootlaces, and that was a good day!
