Has anyone thought of selecting a ruck that may get R/F status throughout the season that could be a top 10 forward in ruck to start with to swing him forward during the season? I'm thinking Grundy may get R/F status so I'm thinking of starting him with either English/Marshall. I think if Grundy doesn't score R/F status through the year Gawn would almost certainly get R/F status to which I'll try to get Gawn into my forward line during the season.
My concern is that any ruck that is polaying enough in attack to gain forward status is going to have an impacted first half of the season on their scoring. A guy like Grundy is a terrible forward IMO so expecting a 110+ average for a guy that is getting significant forward minutes is hopeful at best.

Gawn is far more likely to get it for mine, don't think Darcy is out of the question either, only need a couple of games with the split going to Jackson/Grundy and suddenly they are a Round 6 DPP addition meeting the threshold and still have 3 months of the season for the split to swing back in their favours and you could easily have a 110+ forward/ruck from the point you own them.

I agree regarding Gawn/Grundy and DPP status, for me though with unknowns I'm probably likely to stand back and watch it unplay, I'm really not sure, probably end up using 6 different rucks this season anyway.

I wouldnt be picking Rucks with the hope they snag DPP thats for sure, I'm more accustomed to leave a couple forward spots open incase they or a jet midfielder do, reckon alot of those modern day mids that have significant time forward are going to be close aswell, want at least 2 spots to play with, another reason why I don't like locking in Cameron taking one of them.

I'd actually argue most of the rucks can be argued to be underpriced to significantly underpriced on their best case scenarios. I just think that given almost all have ordinary durability records that arguing the best case scenarios is very difficult. The couple that don't have durability issues don't really have as much upside.

I've added Draper to my team and I really liked what it enabled to be honest in my latest draft. Just really sures up rookies and premium picks.
Draper had some shockingly low scores last year... does that worry you or not ?

Yeah, looked at him as today, was stunned, with those low scores, Round 9 is strange with a 6. Syd smashed them, had 16 HO and 6 possessions.

He has good height, upside to his TOG if his fitness has improved which is being reported. Has a dramatically higher score in wins vs losses by the looks of it. Probably like any of DC, Lycett or Draper, potential for $75k upside, questionable on $150k.

In terms of run 4 easier games followed by 6 tough games.

Playing Phillips or Bryan with him was the main problem last year, would hope if hes built a tank he can do it solo but think thats far from gauranteed.
Yeah, I can see he is cheap’ish, but he’s not THAT cheap and I’m not sure we can rely on his consistency & scoring improving enough to eliminate those poor sub50 scores to a sufficient extent

Id be alot more comfortable to punt that Lycett keeps Hayes/Teakle/Visentini out of the side for long enough and you just ride him to the top Ruck of your choosing as quickly as possible, must admit I dont like either much as a pick though, need alot to go right to not blow up in your face and you'd have to find alot of cash up to a premium if it doesn't come off.

Are you saying you like Lycett as an option? (Sorry, it wasn’t clear)

Nope not at all, think hes just as likely to be playing SANFL in Round 5 as he is to be averaging 90, I'd just rather him before Draper when theres only circa 30K difference in price.

Suspect the tank has been an issue with Draper. The better scoring rucks Gawn/Grundy/English etc usually have over 80% TOG where as Draper is mid to high 70%. NicNat does low TOG but he has other skills that Draper does not. Draper needs another 10% TOG for mine. Will be a good ruck in the future though.

Of course. Every one of the rucks basically terrifies me

Draper is right at that point where he either makes the jump or he basically busts out, I really rate the prospect of Draper but it comes down to him. Does he want to get dirty or is he happy to provide a few highlights and generally underwhelm?

Scott generally hated playing two rucks at North Melbourne, whether that's because he had Goldy or because of his belief system is the question, I guess we find out.

I wouldn't go near Draper if either backup is in the frame and he doesn't play really well in preseason.

Draper's per minute stats in the ruck are actually pretty good so fitness is a huge aspect, #1 ruck is a huge aspect. If either of them look slightly off then I move back up to the other broken speculation plays this year

Basically Draper needs to go 90+ to be worth taking, I think keeper is pretty much a total pipe dream, 95 is probably a genuine win from him.

Mostly it's a distinct lack of confidence in the other options and wanting to actually see what happens, especially after the disasters of the last two years of using 10+ trades. I'm happy to pay more to only use 2 or 3 trades in the rucks!

To me, starting Draper is fraught with disaster. Yes, he's R2, but what's wrong with Marshall at R2? If Marshall is a bust then it's quite simple to sideways him, Draper would require probably 2 trades to fix, if he has the scores that are damaging your ranking in comparison to others. He's at a really difficult price point and really needs to average 95 to make the pick work.
Seems like your setting yourself up for more ruck trades, it's not really a path that I want to tread any more.

As an Essendon fan who watched all of our games last year, I have absolutely no idea where Draper's improvement is going to come from.
I’ll take the bait. He still hasn’t played 50 games but played 22 last year. Coming into his fourth year after a slow start to his career due to injury. Big men are also slow starters, so I think he is in his prime for a breakout this year or next.

Seems the same 2 trade scenario. If you are keeping money in the bank then you have doubts on the pick imo.
