8 all up, with 1 on field (FWD)
I could move Fyfe or Cogs Fwd and play Phillips which gives me 0 on field

A long way to go until round one, but how many cheapies (131k or below) are we currently running?

Might just give us a general idea of how to realistically structure a side at this point in time.

I currently have nine so one on field. Hopefully that's realistic.
I have 3, plus the non-player Capt Loop Madden.

Six and all six are on the bench. The other two bench players are $160,000+ and only one of the six is below $123,900. W Phillips is the cheapest on field.

8, theres not one Id want to be fielding every week at the moment, Ive always been one to pay the premium on rookies though especially when theres a sub rule in effect, either a higher pedigree draftee or a guy thats had some time in the system already and been priced at a slightly inflated level due to playing senior footy already, theres always the odd value mature ager or guy that slides down a draft order but there'd be far more 100-130k rookie busts than hits.

10 under 130k right now for me but have 100k and multiple of the 170k+ guys so quite flexible to fix. We'll see though what happens.

Another rookie to keep an eye on :-

@wogitalia - know much more about this kid?
Don't know much to be honest but there's definitely a spot for him if he forces his way in but it's through Ryan Clarke who played very well last year as a forward tagger but if he's putting elite forward pressure on and offering offensive skills that could be an upgrade.

He's not going to push out Heeney, Papley, Hayward or Gulden though, so not a lot of availability I wouldn't think, basically it's one spot only!

I think our team doesn't have a lot of spots, so going to have to demand a spot.

B: Fox1 McCartin Rampe
HB: Lloyd McCartin Blakey
C: McInerney Parker Mills
HF: Heeney Franklin Gulden
F: Papley McDonald2 Reid2
R: Hickey Rowbottom Warner
Int: Florent Hayward Clarke Stephens

1. Fox has the spot on merit after how he finished last season but can easily turn back into a pumpkin, if he does it's Florent into that spot on field and a bench spot opened.
2. McLean, Ladhams and Amartey are in the mix for these 2 spots as well, Reid is the best of the group when fit, he's the 2nd best ruck and the 3rd best forward. McDonald is the 2nd best forward but the worst ruck. McLean is 4th and 3rd and Amartey is 5th and 4th, imo, but the gap between Amartey and McDonald is not much unless McDonald continues his improvement.

Campbell, Cunningham, Wicks, Sheldrick and Roberts all have AFL experience that aren't in that group and I'd expect Campbell the most likely to force his way in to a spot (he could also beat Fox out). Francis and Melican the depth at KPD spots. Not sure if any of the other kids push through but would take a bit I think given the talent levels of Campbell and Sheldrick who can't get minutes at AFL level.

Added bonus that restructuring into a missed 120k guy from a 170k-200k guy is much easier than needing to do the opposite. Like imagine if you somehow missed Daicos last year compared to if you missed Nic Martin, one was an easy fix that often even freed up some cash, the other quite probably takes two trades.

I get it’s still 34 days out and rookies will likely pop up, but I’m struggling to find many good basement mid rookies.

I think Chesser, Sinn, Wagner, Drury, Johnson, Blakely, Constable, F Macrae, and Richards are all unlikely for round 1 and are massive sub risks.

Oskar Baker I think may get a game for the doggies, but I’m not overly confident in him either.

As I said before, long way out, but it’s still a little worrying.

Im not too concerned yet most of us didnt know who Nic Martin was this time last year haha, should be a couple players that sides pick up that are immediate plug and plays that fill a need.
