So who are the best forwards rookie's from this year draft. That will stay a forward in SC going forward. Excluding the mature aged recruits. So the 18yo.
Harry Sheezel – $198,300 FWD – North Melbourne Kangaroos
Sheezel is a talented forward who has elite footy IQ and goal sense. You’d be safe to assume that top picks will feature early for the North Melbourne football club, especially if Clarkson’s tenure at Hawthorn mirrors what he does at North Melbourne.

Bailey Humphrey – $184,800 MID/FWD – Gold Coast Suns
The powerful forward could step straight into the role Izak Rankine left behind. His toughness and scoreboard impact is exactly what the Suns need forward of centre.

Mattaes Phillipou – $166,800 MID – St Kilda Saints
In previous Ross Lyon reigns, he’s been apprehensive about playing rookies too early, despite how early they’ve been drafted. Phillipou’s confidence should impress the new Saints coach however, especially with traits to similar to that of his former soldier, Nat Fyfe. A tough midfielder with a freakish aerial ability, he’ll also add something different to the St Kilda team.

Noah Long – $117,300 FWD/MID – West Coast Eagles
Eagles may have found their Willie Rioli replacement in Noah Long. His goal sense has been on display early in the pre-season for the Eagles, and his ability to roam up the ground and get back to the forward line to impact the scoreboard in match simulations is catching the eyes of his West Coast teammates.

Hawk supporters, interested in views on Dylan Moore this season, priced at 521K, very unique at 3% ownership currently.

From rounds 15 to 23 last season he was moved into the centre bounces (that block between rounds 17 to 21 very appealing) :-

Screen Shot 2023-02-16 at 2.53.20 pm.png

His scores during that period :-

Screen Shot 2023-02-16 at 2.58.50 pm.png

Read that he played well again yesterday in the intra-club, has there been any indication that he will be part of the centre bounce rotation again this year with Mitchell & JOM now gone?

Taken from the injury and suspension thread. Subject: Zak Butters.
When @BigRuss talks Port players, it's best to prick your ears, and listen!!!

I’m heading to the intra club tomorrow, will definitely be keeping an eye out as I reckon he’s being slept on a bit. Averaged close to 25 an 1.5 goals a game in the run home last year.
Sort of forgotten, maybe because he was so popular last season, and people are trying to nail the new break out.
Rnds 1-8: 114, 136, 58, 57, 130, 58, 89, 52 - Ave 86.9 - best 3 - 127, worst 5 - 63
Rnds 9-22 - subbed off in Round 14 with 25%TOG when on fire against the Swans - already on 68 points. Medial injury, missed Rounds 15 & 16.
Scores: 104, 118, 104, 87, 68, inj, inj, 96, 74, 106, 120, 121, 106, 125 - ave 102.5 - ave without inj 68 - 105.6

The following table shows the % of CBA's attended by Port Mids. These 6 players represent 97% of the possible CB's attended by 3 Mids for Port.

SCS2023 PortCBA.png

We can see, that after Butters' Round 14 injury he was eased back into the rotation on his first 3 games back. With talk (yet again) of Boak being more Forward this year, and Amon gone, it would seem very possible, that Butters and Rozee might possibly push their %'s up to around 60-65%.
Butters had 8 games last season, where his CBA% was 45% or higher, and he averaged 114.4 in those games.
The obvious player to compare is Rozee.
When Rozee had a higher CBA %, it didn't help his score, as much as it helped Butters.
Butters season ave 20/96.2 - CBA 45% and above 9/114.4
Rozee season ave 22/93.3 - CBA% 45% and above 16/106.9 - interestingly CBA% 60% and above 9/103.6!!!
Rozee has Butters covered for ceiling, but Butters covers him easily for consistency.
Remove from both players, their top 3 scores, and their bottom 3 scores. (Butters still has injury 68 in there, as it was higher than his 3rd worst score.)
Butters season ave 20/96.2 - without top 3 and bottom 3 scores 14/97.5, a slight increase.
Rozee season ave 22/93.3 - without top 3 and bottom 3 scores 16/90.9, a bigger decrease, than Butters increased.
Rozee is mesmerizing, with those 3 scores of 153, 154, 162 in his season. Everyone wants those scores. Butters would seem to have more upside, and more consistency.
Butters 100+ scores 11 (55%) ave 116.7
Rozee 100+ scores 9 (41%) ave 128.9
Butters 110+ scores 7 (35%) ave 123.4
Rozee 110+ scores 7 (32%) ave 133.3
Rozee had no scores between 119, and his 153. Butters top 3 scores were: 136, 130, 125
Butters 120+ scores 5 (25%) ave 126.4
Rozee 120+ scores 3 (13.6%) ave 156.3
Rozee looks "sexier", but from a consistency, and room to improve stand point, I think it would be Butters for me!

Just a correction:
Phillipou is a Mid/Fwd

Heard some comments a few weeks back that his fitness might be but underdone. Any thoughts on that ?
He's a tough one to get a real read on, even the coaches were saying his fitness base was a long way off earlier in the pre season and they'd have to be patient with him, concerns me with a guy we have to pay 208K for, one bad game where hes starved of time on ground by whatever method and it becomes a real nothing pick very quickly, do think theyll probably play him even if hes not quite at full flight as their small forward stocks are rubbish aswell, just a guy we have to watch and make our own assessment I think.

Probably limited time. Our forwards suck, he's one of the best forward options we have. He will most likely be a half forward, running up to the midfield at times, I read he was used in a few goal chains in the intra club, so seems he is getting a fair bit of the ball, and I think kicked 3 himself. Not proper opposition of course, so can't read much into that.

Think it has been mentioned a bit, but he is one of only two players (along with Bont) who managed 20+ disposals and 1+ goals per game last year. I see no reason he can't go close to repeating that. Possibly a bit skewed, as he didn't kick many goals playing as a mid.

I've rated him for longer than most, he always looked like he could be a good player, just took him a couple of years to secure a regular spot. I doubt he is a must pick player in SC, I don't think he will drop off significantly, but there will probably be some games where the Hawks struggle where he might score lower.

I had to scroll up a few Posts up to see who is He's
Then I couldn't remember Tippa's full name
After spending some time googling I finally found it, Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti

He's probably your 2nd best forward after Breust once it's acknowledged Lewis is unlikely to be a part early and Gunston is gone, I just don't see how they can afford to take him out of the forward line, aren't exactly short on mid options either.

What tune do I sing that to? :D
I'll file that away, but now I need another tune to help me remember where I filed it! :D
I got so used to Tippa's nickname that I couldn't remember his 'Real' name, his hyphenated surname with McDonald threw me.

I know it is easier to start a new post with 'He', assuming everyone have read all the posts above to know who 'He' is.
Same with nick names, it is fun giving nick names to players, but not everybody know who that nickname belongs to?

I'm not asking for people to change their ways, I'm just saying that it would be easier, and quicker, for others to follow the Posts in this Forum if actual players names were used.

Yeah, but the post to which the person using the third person masculine pronoun is referring is generally quoted so you can track back and work it out. If you want to be part of the conversation, it's incumbent on you to bring yourself up to speed.

That's one I happen to agree with. Not so much because I can't work out who the nickname refers to, but because the post discussing the player won't show up in a keyword search on the player's name.

I totally agree that nick names make it hard to find information on a player, if using the keyword search, I have unfortunately experienced that.
Also, using 'he' makes it hard to find information on a player in the keyword search.

Back tracking is time consuming. Sometimes you have to go back a number of pages to find the first post.
It just would make life easier if the actual players names are used in a new post, not 'he'.
