I found it much easier to create a list of those I didn't want! Such a smaller list! :)

Yet, you couldn't find room for him in your elite predictions! :p Too easy lol
Who was last years prediction?

And also, I'm with you in that I can't see a reason not to have N Daicos in our teams for the foreseeable future! (YES there is of course 1 reason but not jinxing that here!) :)
Laird has been that guy for me for many years now, and will go again with him!
Daicos too easy, everyone can see how elite he will be.

Butters was my boy last year but his fragile body combined with his style of play caused him to not become elite which I have concerns about long term for him unfortunately.

Yeah, some players don't know what's good for them and conversely NOT good for them!
See the ball get the ball, white line fever! etc. I was a head down and under type of player, no running ability! lol And I cringe at some players the way they attack the ball, though lessons are being learnt! And thankfully I see less of the suicidal players of yester year! Better training and techniques are much more improved, laws have been tidied up!
Sometimes you have to protect the player from themselves!

Still have questions about Steele. BF comments are a bit mixed. One person asked about him because he had been hardly mentioned in training reports. Reply was

While seasoned high class mids don't need to blitz it in training I would want him to show up with a solid quarter or two in a pre season game. He can cruise for the rest of the game but needs to show he can still deliver the goods.

"Most" and "entirely normal behaviour" is a stretch. It's use is likely to be higher among AFL footballers because talented young people are often treated as a commodity from a young age. Unfortunately sometimes by parents. You often here it's because they have lots of money, which is part of it. But it's probably more to do with the lack of healthy coping mechanisms.
AFL players are being paid for their physical performance so should look after themselves. That's the gig.
Many people live happy lives without being AFL footballers.
"In 2019, 43% of Australians aged 14 and over had illicitly used a drug at some point in their life (including pharmaceuticals used for non-medical purposes) and 16.4% had used one in the last 12 months. This has been fairly stable since 2016, but up from 38% and 13.4% in 2007."

Yeah not a majority of reported (probably unders) but pretty darn close. The policy failure here is catastrophic. The war on drugs funds criminal groups (increasing the risk, price and decreases comp for those that supply) makes people reluctant to seek help, and decreases the information about what people are taking, increasing harm. Tax and regulate the distribution now...***. (non user, and parent FWIW)

30 years ago I smoked a marijuana joint. That's my entire drug use history so I'm part of the 43%. I haven't had a drink for 10 years so I'm about as sober as someone can be. To suggest from that data that it's entirely normal behaviour is a stretch.
I agree it's a problem we're not fixing.

Steele is a nice price and one of the few who could push 120+ for the season. Locked for my team.

Yeah Macrae or Bont. Going to be a coin toss involed.
Been looking at this and currently am rolling with both as I simply can't decide between the two.

Both of their CBA's dropped last season compared to prior years and logic suggests with Dunkley gone that they will both increase their CBA loads but will be a close watch how it is split during the practice game (of course they will only have one for us to have a look at).

Here are some stats from the last three years to highlight the importance of CBAs to their scoring;

Bont showed more versatility in being able to score with the role last year so think he comes with less risk but think both if it all plays out as we suspect with Dunkley may have some upside.

I would also consider the acquisition of Baker to be relevant for Macrae. If Baker locks down a wing role, I don't think Macrae needs to be playing that position. Baker is a replacement for Hunter, Hunter missed half of the season last season which is basically when Macrae drifted out to cover that position.

They both present some potential upside even at the top end of the premium midfields.

If there were ever a season for Bont to break a 120 season average, this one has the ingredients for it to happen. They've got options up in their forward line now and another big bodied midfielder has departed. It's all up to their coach not being stupid. Recall the stretch of games after Dunkley did his shoulder in 2021, Bont went on an eight or so week stretch of 145ppg.

Macrae spent a hell of alot of their match sim on a flank while they ran McLean and Daniel through the middle, think hes still going to have periods of games where hes out of their starting mids.

Bailey Smith & Libba are the other 2 to factor in.

Libba I think is safe to assume will be in the centre square the majority of the time, with Bont fully fit & no Dunkley I would expect him to be in the middle most of the time as the dogs main big bodied mid - my reading of it is those 2 will have the most midfield time. The last centre square starting mid spot I can see being rotated between Macrae/Smith/McLean & Daniel at times giving relief - just worried Macrae will split his time with Smith between wing & being in the centre square.
