Team Editing & Trades
You can edit your entire team list while a round is not in progress, and, with the rolling lockout, players may be traded, substituted, named Captain/Vice Captain/Emergency, up until the time of the start of their team's actual match. Players are locked into your team only at the time that their real match has started.

I may be wrong but I think the point being made is that there is a Thursday game which stretches out the round. So depending on what rookies turn up and who they play for, means you might be tempted to take a rookie who is playing early. Because if you hold off for a rookie you like better but that is a Sunday game and he does not get picked it gets messy. Eg If you like the Poo at St Kilda and he is only named in the extended squad on Thursday he may be no sure thing he gets in the squad for Sunday. Thought Sunday squads were finalised earlier now (Friday?) so perhaps not the issue it once was. Not sure about that.

I got caught out last year with Darcy. By the time I found out he wasn't playing, English and Gawn had both played 😪
