There were good reports on him early on, playing a nice rebounding role of half back & using the ball well. But he appears to have fallen down the pecking order, not picked in their A team in match sims. With his price of 102K, dual position (mid/fwd) & potentially playing a lucrative role he looked a bench option but I think you will see his ownership fall closer to round 1.
Yep, suggest Drury is a placeholder for the moment. 102k players can be tricky to get rid of, amazing how finding 22k can be a hard thing to do without a restructure or downgrading a more expensive player.

Exactly right PC. Drury as a placeholder is a folly because there's nobody else at the price point to replace him if not named.
Cincotta?

With McAndrew emerging as a playing R3 option and limited cheap midfield rookies, I actually prefer a 102K floating donut on my bench in the midfield over Madden at R3.

Joshua Bennetts from Hawthorn is a much better option for this than Drury though.

What's the go with Goater? I've heard talk of HB intercepts, game time and kick-ins but nothing solid. Are we all waiting for more games and selection confirmations? Everything I've read about him seems to be either super bullish or super bearish and not much in between, and I admittedly don't know much about the lad.

He's sitting in my D4 at the moment, but would be nice to free up $60k for the bank and maybe go for Bowes/Coffield. Thanks in advance.

Wouldn’t take anything said in an interview as gospel at this stage when it comes to team selection, especially when having to read between the lines. But it does line up with the word I got around a month ago…
Talking to my link at the club today, McKenzie definitely a chance, but thinks that Weddle probably won't start in the seniors.
Really keen to see MacKenzie play this week, I have a feeling he will be one of the best rookies we get this year.

I think a lot of people make a team at the start to join leagues and then don't get back to them until the just before the season starts.
You can enter leagues without picking a team.

You can't access your history from previous years without entering a team, which is the only reason I entered one initially this year.

With 3 weeks to go I wanted to ask which rookies are people feeling confident will be named fro round 1? This is who I have in my side atm -

Ginbey - OG
McKenna (rookie priced) - OG
Wilmot - OG
Chesser - B
Constable - B
Ashcroft - OG
Phillips - B
Hollands - B
E Hewett - B
Sheezel - OG
Phillipou - B
F Greene - B

I'm feeling confident that most of these players are a chance to play round 1 (hoping so with fingers crossed).

I also think the following are a chance - McAndrew, Ratugolea, O Baker, B King, Humphreys, Goater, Combden, Menzie & Cincotta (I liked MacKenzie from Hawks but unsure atm?)

I have a few higher priced rookies as I think they are more likely to play round 1 over the $124k or less mid/forward rookies players

Thoughts?
I would be worried about Hollands All the others pretty much play

My mate who barracks for the Blues and watched their match sim last week said Holland's played well on the wing and should be in the Blues round 1 team. Watch this space.

North will definitely pump games into him. Provides run and carry and something that North don't have with the current mix of defenders. JS and scoring potential are strong.

If he breaks into the side round one he's good enough to hang around.

Hard part is judging what Clarko thinks and will do. They've got several old guys that are best 22 but I'm not sure are in their best interests to actually play in Greenwood, Hall and Shiels especially. Those 3 playing or not playing really shapes their best 22.

Throw in Thomas, who is now back and was expected to play defense prior to all the douchebaggery getting exposed publicly and a few others.

Basically his scoring potential is some of the best but the JS is questionable and would be very much on an earn it basis. That said, most of the rookies this year have major issues in at least one of those areas, if not both, and the ones that don't cost a lot.

It's a tough rookie year, going to probably be about 5 120k guys going into 2 spots at both forwards and backs this year, always find that makes things more interesting as chances of nailing it are so low that it keeps teams different as the round 3 correction trades drift towards fixing rookies instead of ****genising all the premiums or mid price guys. Anyone who does nail the rookies is going to be a long way ahead.

This round will tell us a lot more I think as teams are narrowed down into best 26 types and we'll see more of which rookies are genuinely options.

One general thing to keep in mind this season is the effect of the sub rule on rookie cash gen potential - this is more damaging on premium $160k+ rookies.

Might mean that (if we have the choice), we prioritize the mature agers and basement priced rookies, over the higher priced premium rookie draftees that could stall in price with sub roles to ease them into the AFL.

A good point and another reason that the JS of being clearly inside the best 22 is going to be important.

Does add value to the KP structure guys that are generally a bit harder to sub out than the flanker types that are easily replaced. Does put some fear towards the Humphrey, Sheezel and Phillipou group who could get wrecked by a sub game or two. Most important part is avoiding the guys who will start as subs, as that's the one that really wrecks things.

Re endurance, Humprey and Phillipou rated 2/4 endurance, Shezzel 4/4 (lucky to find a rookie with that rating, Holland also a 4). Weddle rounds out the top 30 with a 4, however, he needs to learn the game and how to get a kick was how I interpreted the coaches comments.
