Currently looking at 3 mid premos + Hopper/Callaghan/Ashcroft/Mackenzie/Phillips with Phillipou/Hollands/Chesser on the bench.

Lets me run 3 premos (if you consider Richards a premo) on FWD/DEF lines + Yeo & Bruhn

Don’t mind it but year in year out having too many cheaper players in the mids early can really hurt the scoring.

That said there’s plenty of basically midfielders in the forward line.
Don’t see anything wrong with premiums like this across the 4 lines though:

2/5/2/3
3/4/2/3
2/4/2/4
1/5/2/4

Hopper and Callaghan in yours provides enough scoring in option 2 to not be starting say 5 220k or less mids though so I like it.

After watching the Doggies game on the weekend (albeit against weak opposition) I'm starting to give some thought as to whether Libba might be the big winner from Dunkley's departure?
He might be but it's very hard to pick him. He's the obvious tag target and it's been very effective in the past, he doesn't have other strings in the event of a tag and relies very heavily on the one source and he's not going to suddenly be an outside target when you've got Macrae, Bont and Smith (he probably should be ahead of Smith, fwiw, because he can actually kick but Dogs like watching the mullet fly and don't care who he kicks it to!). It would be a most unexpected 120+ breakout if he does it, think he's value but don't see him as a top 8 midfielder.

Sometimes we overcomplicate it, Bont doesn't really benefit from Dunkley but Lobb is a MONSTER addition for him, there's no excuse for him to be playing FF anymore, so he just has to stay fit.

Macrae is the biggest benefactor of Dunkley gone, he lost his role last year to him, a role that's been a proven ~125 role for him.

It's really about aim points, if Libba was 300k, yes, but realistically he's about as underpriced as Bont/Macrae, which means the starting gap is fair.

I really like Libba, I think he's got a genuine case of being their best midfielder and he's been underrated by people other than AFL coaches for a long time but for fantasy purposes, he can't match Bont and Macrae.

Oh maybe, the legend grew I guess.
I thought it was also, I remember some of the post win beers in Melbourne, how the F I got a leave pass from my wife to fly to Melbourne to just have beers with the SCE group and Prompts to celebrate that win I'll never know. I'm struggling to get a leave pass for an Iraq SQN 20 Year anniversary this ANZAC day in Sydney

Agree but remember @Impromptu won the 50k with an all rookie midfield. Balls of steel
A bit of nostalgia maybe but was that the year before, I think this was the Round 1 Team @Impromptu started with in 2011 - some good names for SC history

I still remember exactly where I was when I first saw the screenshot of his starting midfield on Bigfooty. Blew my tiny brain, as I’d never seen anything like it
Yeah, that was his 2010 year when I think there was plenty of GWS/GCS young players around. Still did very well, ranking in the top few hundred from memory.

The big controversy in 2012 was when he didn't start Franklin and everyone was you have to have Buddy - from memory. Now history shows the top player rarely repeats their efforts................just as everyone jumps on Laird. Remember when Gawndy cost $1.5m!

no it was Goddard that he didn’t start as the biggest controversy
Franklin may have been another but Goddard was seen as the second must have behind Ablett at the time
So much so even Jay brought Goddard in around R5 that year IIRC

Advice being sought on whether I start MacCrae as a proven gun mid OR take a punt on Tom Green who is expected to lift his average this year to 105+ and bank $100k to use somewhere else e.g. upgrade Cincotta to Bowes?

Both Green and Macrae look to offer value. Green is a breakout whereas Macrae is hoping he gets time back in mids not wing, with Bevo putting his magnet toys away.

If you have 2-3 premiums, many will go Green for some value to spend money elsewhere.

MacCrae/Green would be M4 as I have Laird/Oliver/Bont as M1-M3.

Was good to see that Macrae wasn't on a wing at all on the weekend, did spend very small stint in the backline but also didn't get many contested possessions, Smith played a bit more of the inside mid role and Macrae more the receiver out of the stoppage.

I dont think Macrae has the same priority he did in those 120+ years but he still played well while he was in there, I'm short on mid spots now though as I really want to take the mid priced stepping stones while they are there.

Green just needs to push to that ~80% CBA attendance that the elite bulls have, to get the premo scoring. People picking him are relying on Kingsley to give it to him now.
