A lot of mouths to feed in the Kangas HB line….! LMac, Ziebell and Hall (when fit) to start…. not sure he’ll spend enough time there to be worthwhile
This is essentially my thoughts, how the hell is he getting a primary half back role when theyll pick Hall,Ziebell,LMac,Logue,Corr and McKay all over him?

Not sure I buy the hell score as a forward argument either, he literally went a whole quarter without a touch as one of their highest time on ground players.

Aaron Hall lined up in the VFL praccy, while Sheezel got a run in the real thing. Maybe Clarko has made the call already? Round 1 team will show us a lot.

The kid is an absolute talent, we need him to get near the footy as much as possible.

Will Zurhaar's injury condemn him to a forward role 100% now?

Interrupted pre season and was Halls first full game back from injury where he was literally in the best 3 players on the ground, if people think hes getting left out for a kid they are going to be disappointed.

Simpkin was just on SEN and said Hall and Corr should be right to play West Coast.

If we go like for like to replace Zurhaar it would probably be Ford that comes in.

To be honest, I think Sheezel will be named in the forward pocket/flank and plays there on game day. Unless his defensive craft is some undiscovered weapon, I don't think he'll be used as a small defender (something like Perez's spot) and I don't honestly think he jumps Hall/JZ/LMac as a rebounder unless the coach makes a deliberate move to not play one of those in that position.

But it is WCE in Melbourne, one of two games we actually won last year, so he might find some pill, kick some goals and score 100 SC for the fans (please) :p

Late in the season theyll probably go past Hall and Ziebell types if they are down the bottom of the ladder as expected, but I can't see that being the mindset from Round 1, Clarko is notorious for having a crack until its bleedingly obvious its not going to happen expect he picks the most experienced and highest quality side he can to start the year.

Bringing guys like Shiels and Howe with him doesn't tell me his mindset is play the kids either.

Shiels has said that he has come in on the expectation that he’ll be nothing much more than a sub, and a break glass in case of emergency in terms of senior footy.

Howe, if fit, is one that I reckon can definitely find his way ahead of one or two that are there or thereabouts the 20-26 on the list range.

Play Ziebell in the fwd line.
He's been thrown there in the past with various degrees of effectiveness. Something we'll probably see at some point in the year I imagine.

Gotta remember that last year we averaged about 60pts a game. We need to kick goals: Sheezel knows how to find the big sticks - if he gets 10 touches in the forward 50 he could kick 3 or 4 goals. If a game is there to be won, we want him up forward roving the packs and creating chances.

However, if the game is gone (and there'll be plenty... R2 vs Freo in Perth; R4 vs Carlton; R5 vs Bris) we shouldn't just persist with the same muck that hasn't been working. Get Sheezel into the CBA or breaking off HB so he can find some footy and we can see what works. It's already happened once, I'm sure it will again in the season proper.

I don't follow the lower comps or juniors. I understand Flanders has been a pig at the lower levels. Is Callaghan in the same boat? Where does the love for him come from?

A few things for me:-

He passes the eye test with flying colours, kid is very classy & uses the ball very well. He just has that evasiveness & composure that the highly talented players have - reminds me a little bit of Pendles at that age (helps he is a left footer also )

Playing midfield, mainly on a wing - so will be around the ball a lot, knows how to position himself to receive the ball/ reads the play.

Draft profile :-

2021 SC Ave: 111 (NAB League)

The rapid development of his inside game saw Callaghan bolt into the top three of last year’s draft. But we could see his speed, damaging left-foot and agility used on the outside early on in his career, given the Giants’ current midfield mix. Callaghan scored 105, 140, 132 and 138 in the his final four NAB League games but sits down the rookie pecking order, given his high price-tag - at this stage, anyway.

He managed to get 35 possessions in a VFL match last year returning from injury also.

Callaghan is an absolute ball magnet, had 35 on a wing off no pre season in his first VFL game.

Averaged 24 touches in U/18s but thats a combination of battling through injury in a crap role and being stuck behind genuine stars, when he got a go as a pure midfielder as an underager he was immense.

This kid went pick 3 for a reason really hoping his body holds up so people can see why has all the talent in the world.

with 51K spare in the bank is it worth spendiing 21K to start MacAndrew over Madden in the hope he gets a call up at some stage ? (given Ladhams will be playing with knee tendinitis)
you would have to say yes He's a big dude and needs time
