Yep, as long as it passed the eye test. For example if Gulden is getting no CBA's and parked forward and Bruhn is getting them and scoring well, or if Fyfe is splitting time forward and midfield or if JZgoes back to his high scoring defence. Then yes, without hesitation as that's what we do.
last year Trac scored as big as gulden did but it didn't alter coaches decisions a lot. I didn't pick him

I just don't get the Gulden pick. It's a pre-season trap for sure imo.

With a few players potentially getting fwd DPP, I'm not convinced Gulden finishes top 10. He needs to be a keeper at the price.

I don't buy in to the narrative of ownership is high, therefore it's safer to just start him.

Fair, it's really if he will get CBA boost or not. If he doesn't, hard to see him being a keeper.

I agree. If you really believe a player is a bad pick, there's no point picking them just because others are. (Unless you are consistently wrong on these types of things  )

I'm still having that issue with Yeo, who I don't really want, but also don't hate as a pick. Ownership not a factor for me, have to decide if I think he'll make enough $ or not.

100% agree with the last bit. Popularity is the poorest reason to start any player.
I'm just not sure I see too many downsides to starting Gulden. You know, extra trades and all.

Look maybe, but we know that no team ever gets their theoretical best 22 out on the park. They’re always an injury, illness whatever. I don’t think you can judge a pick against some ideal world perfect side that works on paper but will never transpire in real life.
If named R1, what else do we have go on here? He’s in the side to give it a crack. He’s $178k.
Would you pick him?
I get all the nervousness and sure if not named then there’s the answer. But if named …
Probably not, but would depend on what rookies are available.

Happy to put him on the 2 week watch and assess list.
Same - he gives me an out from a Gulden, Hopper, Callaghan, Allen or Flanders etc. much easier to trade down to him then try and get from McLean to a Gulden if needed
I dont think they'll pick McLean in all honesty, Baker,Scott and Jones all performed far better on the weekend and there's still Weightman to come back in, screams sub with his versatility and injury history even if he does make the 23.
If Crozier is fit I think one of these two if named might be the sub. At least we'll know because they'll be listed as emergencies in the team sheets

Fair enough
The HS article just posted in the articles thread says McLean “is clearly best 22”. That’s the same vibe as a similar article off Fox Sports.
If I hadn’t read the comments on here I’d just treat him as a lock. Is there some inside word on here I’ve missed?
I do get the injury risk but he’s priced accordingly to de-risk that.
To me he’s your perfect F6 but who knows how it will play out.

He’s been in some iterations. How much $ extra in bench is the question though with McLean, Esava, Phillips type picks.
I thought maybe he was a placeholder for someone back soon but haven't caught much talk about him. Seems to have a decent role.
