Ash feels very knee jerk to me but Ive been wrong before, hard to see how the guy thats clearly their 3rd rebounder after Cumming and Whitfield consistently scores 90+.

The Setterfield pick works provided they keep him on the ball and they keep saying the total opposite in press conferences, think we'll have far better options if its a inside mid/wing split.

100% agree with the last bit. Popularity is the poorest reason to start any player.
I'm just not sure I see too many downsides to starting Gulden. You know, extra trades and all.
I agree, Gulden avrg 10% CBA last year. If Gulden CBA do increase to 50%+ he's a keeper. avrg 85 SC played 22 games in 2022. avrg should definitely increase 95-110pts

I think he plays the exact same role he played in the practice matches. They are lacking a big body in the midfield that tackles and wins contested ball, thats where he plays imo. Essendon has enough wingers.

Whitfield is made of glass, he will break down in the first few rounds.

If Scott is a half decent coach, Settlefield pushes Shiel down the mid rotations.
He is a point of difference in the current Essendon line up.
Hopefully Hobbs and Perkins develop more this year and start to push Parish out. Very likely parish is traded / let going FA IMO

I don't love the Ash pick. He's the lock down defender in their back 6, come the real season that will be his role often. Let's be honest, Whitfield isn't going to be in that role, Cumming is their best ball user and intercept option so would be silly to use him like that. From what they played on the weekend Fahey would be the other guy to lock down but leaving it to a rookie would be gutsy!

He'll have some excellent games and make cash but I'd have him behind Worpel, Setterfield and Hopper purely on role, all around the same price point but you take the inside midfield clearance role, imo.

They're mid pricers and a year of mid pricers :sneaky:
Rehashing an earlier post, Rachele, 287k fwdd, seeing lots of predicted R1 lineups from media pundits with him lined up in centre line. Rankin maybe taken his spot and hes pushed into midfield, keays pushed further outside. Gonna take a punt on that, hope he has a tank

They're mid pricers and last year was a year of mid pricers.

I can't wait to see all the teams loaded with mid price players crash and burn because they learned the wrong lessons from last year.

*he says as if he doesn't have five or so mid pricers in his team*
I've been hoping for this for 2 years now and it hasn't happened.

Granted I've jumped on the train too this season.

Kingsley gave him a big pump up in the pregame talking about run and carry and all those lovely terms you want to hear in a pre season role change.

I reckon he goes past Whitfield this year. Has him covered in almost every metric other than tank. Not sure if I’m game to pick him but like I said earlier has all the makings of the “All the signs were there” pick.

Fair enough
The HS article just posted in the articles thread says McLean “is clearly best 22”. That’s the same vibe as a similar article off Fox Sports.
If I hadn’t read the comments on here I’d just treat him as a lock. Is there some inside word on here I’ve missed?
I do get the injury risk but he’s priced accordingly to de-risk that.
To me he’s your perfect F6 but who knows how it will play out.
Most expected Mclean to score 100pts in the praccy match. At his price 80+ is a win. One of the few names who have never left the Team.
