Staff writers on AFL.com mock teams for round 1 is quite interesting reading :-

https://www.afl.com.au/news/880190/mock-teams-who-s-in-your-club-s-best-22-for-round-one-

The predicted cats team caught my eye :-

GEELONG

B: Jed Bews, Sam De Koning, Zach Guthrie
HB: Jake Kolodjashnij, Tom Stewart, Zach Tuohy
C: Isaac Smith, Patrick Dangerfield, Max Holmes
HF: Brad Close, Jeremy Cameron, Brandan Parfitt
F: Tyson Stengle, Ollie Henry, Gryan Miers
Foll: Rhys Stanley, Cam Guthrie, Tom Atkins
I/C: Mark Blicavs, Mark O'Connor, Jack Bowes, Gary Rohan
EMERG: Esava Ratugolea, Tanner Bruhn, Ollie Dempsey, Jon Ceglar

Both Bruhn & Ratugolea as emergencies which just shows the depth they have
Gezz, i have already assumed Bruhn is a walk up start. A premiership team is hard to break into. It would definately cause coaches a headache if not named round one.

Bowes for his versitility over Bruhn.
Bruhn looked better than Parfitt.

Now more confusion on starting team.

Whats your thoughts on de goey and what he could ave?
I like De Goey, his role was exceptional in preseason. I think he's capable of 115, I doubt he does it though, they've got so many mids, he's the best forward by a long way in the group and he just hasn't ever stayed fit. Kind of guy I'd reach for a bit in draft because he could definitely get FWD still but also underpriced as a mid but realistically he's put up 85ish for 5 years and if his role doesn't change and he can't stay fit, that's not changing a lot this year.

I don't think his upside, as good as it is, is worth the risk given his durability and role uncertainty. Titch and Adams are better forwards than most people give them credit for but De Goey is on another planet to them so he'll spend a lot of time forward.

Parfitt is one of their best midfielders, he's the guy that does all the unnoticed things that allow their other mids to do their thing, every team has them, Liam Shiels and Kane Lambert perhaps the best at it over the last decade, but Parfitt in that vein, allows Danger to only run one way, allows Blicavs to roam wherever he wants.

MOC is the weakest link in that group. Kolo also could be replaced but Scott has been very loyal to him and I don't expect it.

Also worth noting that Duncan isn't in that team, probably wont play round one but could be back by round 2.

Fair enough, I was just being a bit silly with that post based on what could be seen in that screenshot (the headings weren't showing).
This is a better shot

It indicates that Scott and Shiel start on a wing, and then Shiel plays as a 4th inside Mid. Therefore one of the Fwds pushes up onto the wing.

As a MID option only shouldnt be on your radar.

90+

Needs M/F status before you even consider, even then you have a dozen better options before DPP come into effect..

Not more confusion for me, those team lists are invariably wrong, I honestly don’t read them because of the misinformation. I’ve screwed around with my team before based on these lists and then had to toss out new plan. These and the ones listed on Wednesday each week I chose to skip. More headaches if you take it too seriously.
