No Boak- https://www.portadelaidefc.com.au/n...o-club-debuts-but-veteran-to-miss-lions-clash
“After experiencing ongoing symptoms from a collision occurring during a pre-season match in Perth, Boak underwent further follow-up imaging, which confirmed a rib fracture. The 34-year-old also sustained a lung contusion from the incident, so will sit out Round 1 to progress his recovery.”

Horne-Francis at F2 here I come! Hopefully it doesn’t end up like 2020 and selecting Rozee in a similar position.

Enough has been done to change the game with the repugnant stand rule and other absurdities, how about we leave the game alone before it is morphed in AFLX.
I am happy with draw and do not want a change. My point was illustrating the “absurdity” of rewarding a winner based on who misses the most or who misses first.

Disagree, the issue was when O'Brien fumbled the last bounce which messed up McKay's lead and ended up leaving him off balance in surrounded by three Richmond players when the tumble punt from LOB eventually came in. Would have been a really good mark from McKay in those circumstances.

The run down the wing itself only "chewed up" about 10 seconds off the clock in reality and in the end it looked more like a desperation play to win the game in the last two minutes rather than what was clearly called for off the bench.

Not the sort of late game composure Voss was looking for I don't think.
LOB should have kicked it to McKay earlier when McKay was leading the defenders back toward goal. LOB ran and (attempted) bounced too long.

Where have you spent most of your money?
Mids- Laird, Bontempelli, Brayshaw/Macrae, Steele, Kelly, Hopper, Ashcroft and Mackenzie.
Docherty, Dawson, Dunkley, English and Marshall are the only other players priced over $360,000.

Couldn’t get behind overspending in the forward line for the “perceived” security and an expected low return on investment when I was keen on the mid priced torookie options and would prefer to overspend in the midfield instead. Also wasn’t confident on the mid rookie bench options and given quite a few were going in with less midfield premiums which served as another reason to differentiate. Previously I have tried too much to find those mid $400,000 to low $500,000 premiums, so testing out going for more of the high $500,000 and low $600,000 options.

Actually liked the look of Hollands, albeit only scoring a 50, runs all day and was open numerous time but burnt by his teammates. Can def see some scores in the 70-80 range in the future.
I'd imagine that will keep happening. If you're a Blues defender and your options are Hollands or Mackay/Curnow 20-30m further up the field, you know where they're going most times.

I really don’t understand the reluctance to do away with a draw and play extra time so you get a result in a professional competition where winning is the objective. Tonight is a case in point where a thrilling game concluded with a very unsatisfactory ending for everybody.

Extra time would have been fantastic and when that change is finally made we will all wonder why it wasn’t made years ago. Easy choice for mine.
I really don't understand the desperate need to "get a result" in a competition where a draw has been a legitimate result forever.

Reasons that might need to be considered if you wanted to play extra time in H&A
- Extra time on tired legs might add injury risk
- Extra time one week might negatively impact teams the following week
- TV doesn't like having to mess with it's schedule at 0 notice
Etc etc

Mostly for my own benefit because I've boxed myself in a little on structure. Currently looking at needing four (!) rookie priced forwards to fill out my side. There's 13 up to Allen with the green tick though, so it's not all bad. Just going through them in turn...
Long - nope
Davey - nope. I know people are keen for the M/F swing but I don't value it that much. Obviously happy to correct if he looks better than I expect early doors.
Comben - probably too reliant on Goldstein actually being out of favour, which seems crazy right now. Does play WC though, whose second ruck options haven't been great. Sneaky F7 maybe.
Laurie - don't know enough, but the Demons fans here seemed to think he was well off the pace.
Chandler - few years in the system now. Named on field probably a sign of better than expected JS.
Greene - everyone's F8
Bruce - Very interesting. Could definitely be tempted.
Pedlar - don't know enough
Esava - Probably the biggest structural decision. I'll probably trade a ruck with info if they go down so the cover may not matter as much as it initially seemed.
King - being slept on a bit? See also Allen. Problem is they're spike merchants where you'd want them on the bench.
Sheezel - the people's favourite. Thinking about the likes of Rowe and Rachele in the preceding years who were popular picks despite being small forwards in poor sides. Both of those were just okay picks, not total busts, but made reasonable coin. Don't mind the pick, but don't love it - and I think at the price I've got to love it.
Fantasia - would be hilarious if this ends up being the way to go!
Allen - North with no McKay? Yes please. Also offers the enticing option of being an easy correction to anyone else on this list if it looks like it's not working.

Not included: Phillipou, Caminiti, Sturt, or anyone else currently on an extended bench.

Think I've just talked myself into Allen F5

I'm not talking supercoach, Hopper was truly horrid. He was bad in the practice match too. How many years did he sign for?Supercoach. I dont know.

He will need someone to win the ball and kick it to him, that's my issue with him.

Watched the game on delay without checking live fantasy scores.

Hollands and Cowan to my eye both scored what I expected. Don’t think either of them did their future opportunities any harm. I’m a happy owner of both, and expect a few spike scores in there over coming weeks. Cowan on Bolton shows the confidence they have in him, and Hollands running was amazing and didn’t look out of place at all.

Hopper struggles to hit a target anything over 25m by foot, and I think that’s being generous.
Didn’t look like getting near it. The fact he scored high 60’s, I’ll take it every day of the week after watching. Hopefully it was a down game and he bounces back next week. Definitely one on notice.

Taranto got so much of the ball. Really knows how to find it, but it’s like he just panics. Either chucks it on his boot forward or he tries a quick handball over the top. Didn’t see a lot of composure from him. Reckon he has better games with DE where he scores 120, and others where he doesn’t get 30 touches and scores 60-70. Could be a bit of a roller coaster. Overall, I had him going 100-105 and that’s exactly what he did last night.

Docherty, I’m a non owner. I thought he would have got more than 108 tbh. I don’t think he deserved to score more, but it was like every time he kicked it, even under pressure it just kept dropping in the arms of a Carlton player. I was expecting a 120+ when going to check the scores.

Cripps and Rioli both impressive.

Yep, it is the games after the one against North that could be the issue.

On Taranto -
He is perfect for Richmond, kicks a 'chaos ball' (detest that term) then their runners mop it up and scramble enough distance to kick it through for a goal. His de is probably why he was recruited! :sneaky:

This was the 1st time I've watched I've Taranto live & he has his faults as we all know.
However his work rate is unbelievable,we've been blessed with Lambert & this guy is in that class. Was getting to all the contests late including the Lynch mark where he did just enough to keep Weitering away.

Guys like Taranto have their place in teams, you just can't run too many that's all. Hopper I expected more from, was just caught ball watching for three quarters and I wouldn't be surprised if he was given a rocket at 3/4 time which kicked him in to gear. He should be just told see ball, get ball, that's all you have to do. He doesn't have the kicking skills to be on the outside of the contest which was evident last night.

As PC noted, yes North is a good start, but he has a pretty tough draw after that, you might get stuck with him for a while.
