I'm not sure I'd go Templeton, you could consider Taylor, and it opens a DPP link, and gives you a little cash. I'm not 100% convinced there's a full trades worth of benefit there, only time will answer that. I'd probably just keep Michie for now.
Thanks bud.

Was thinking of trading out Matt crouch for Matt Thomas, but with crouch being named I am reconsidering.
thoughts?

on one hand Thomas 'should' make quick cash but is it worth the trade or just save the trade and wait for crouch to make me some money? (Assuming that crouch will get games)

my midfield would be:
pendles, ablett, beams, polec, Tyson, x.ellis, d.thomas, m.thomas, (Fyfe, dunstan)
I'd just hold fire. The difference between Crouch M and Thomas M doesn't seem to warrant burning a trade.

I watched North's games and it really does look like Nick Dal Santo is taking his numbers.
I've watched both North's games so far. Dal seems to be sweeping loose across half back most of the game, where Cunnington is more following the ball and attending Ruck contests, as he usually does. He got a knock to the head that affected his TOG on Sunday, but I'm still not 100% convinced he will make the step up.

Hey Rowsus,

Whist you are reviewing teams, was wondering if you could cast you eye over mine.

I was pretty keen to get M Thomas in this week, now the Michie is out, I'm still keen.

The problem is I only have $53k so not enough to do straight swap, need to free up an additional 40k.

When Enright was injured the plan was Enright to Swallow and Michie to Thomas.

I do believe that Swallow can average 90-95 for the remainder of the year which would be enough for D6.

What do you think? Can you see any more suggestions?

As you can see I have a 3-7 midfield so the advantage if getting Thomas over Michie is that Thomas will appreciate much faster in value, which would allow a faster upgrade to an additional premium in the midfield.

Would appreciate your thoughts.

Cheers

Rowsus, in your opinion, is a trade like Michie to M.Thomas not worth it? Ff Michie was out for the next few weeks or so, Thomas might (should) make 100k more in that time, while giving you scoring to work with as well? Is one trade worth 90-100 points per week for a few weeks and cash creation that you wouldn't have had otherwise? Or have I just been blinded by that that big, negative break-even?

Would appreciate some of your wisdom!

Thank you, and from what I have read - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Hi Mike, good to see you posting in the forum!
We both have/had a good opinion of Cunnington coming into this season. The difference in his situation is, we were looking for him to take a step up in his scoring, rather than just repeat a previously established scoring pattern. The question you need to ask yourself is, do you still have faith he can take that step? If the answer is no, then a straight swap to Murphy/Beams is prudent. If you still have faith, then stick fat. Norths draw becomes a lot friendlier after the bye. The other option is to swap him out now, and keep an eye on his form and price, and possibly bring him back if he looks good. I'm sitting on the fence with him for now. I was hoping part of his improvememnt would come with more TOG, but that hasn't happened yet, but it is still early days. The safer option is to swap, and watch. The bigger gamble is to hold. I think in this case the potential risk out weighs the potential reward, so I'd go the safe option.

ps - thanks for the birthday wishes. :)

Thanks for the reply, very insightful as always!

Again, not sure if this is overrating him but I do still have faith he can take that step.

In round 1 he was on track for 110+ then spent almost a full quarter off with concussion and finished on 92.
In round 2 at half time he was sitting on 53pts and looking like he would pass the 100pt mark. I missed the second half so I didnt see what went wrong but he only scored a further 21 points.

Hopefully if Ziebell is out this week his TOG will increase.

So he could potentially be sitting on that 105-107 mark already if things went a bit differently but reality is he is already 85pts behind Beams.

I have had to use 2 trades this week already getting rid of Hurn and Clurey. With a bit of cash leftover if he doesnt perform this week I might need to swap him for a super premium.

Thanks again!

Hi Cattle,
you are absolutely right, the priority for early trades, is fix any missing cash cows first, then fix structural/selection problems second. Since you posted we have learnt Dixon is out with an adductor injury. One of those annoying injuries that look like one week, but can be one week or three. I will monitor Fridays game. If Sandi appears to get through it ok, I will sacrifice Dixon, under my previous explanation. If Sandi gets injured, then it's catch-22, we can't be sure if Dixon is back next week anyway!
Rowsus,

Also in the Dixon boat, but at this stage, I don't really have any rookie issues to fix. The only rookie trades I would be considering would be either (a) Michie to ??? (got all the good ones already), or (b) Rohan to Ambrose. Neither are particularly essential.

The only trade I HAVE to make it Hurn (who will likely become Swallow ... no-one else I'm particularly keen on). As such, I am now tempted to use the 2nd trade to remove Dixon (given his injury, and the potential for it to be more than just a couple of weeks). Again, no-one I'm particularly keen on, but it'll likely be Zorko.

MAN, I feel like such a chump reading that over again ... followin' the sheep with the Swallow / Zorko trades.

Thoughts?

Hey Deeman1,
I think you have to go without Thomas M. He's not worth 2 trades to get, and the only player you have to sacrifice is Higgins. Who do you get for him, JKH? It would be nice to have Thomas M, but he's not worth sacrificing a Premium to get, or coupling with another inferior Rookie to get.
Good luck :)

Hi JMAC, thanks for the birthday wishes.
If you can go Michie ---> Thomas M with the use of 1 trade, it is worthwhile, but if you have to use another trade, I would question the value, unless that other trade stands as a good trade when compared as a one off trade. ie without the Michi/Thomas trade factored in.
Good luck :)

There's definitely a sheep factor with Swallow/Zorko this week, but sometimes the sheep get it right. Sometimes.
If you don't have Thomas M, and Hurn --->Swallow will allow you to go Michie ---> Thomas, that to me is preferable to Dixon ---> Zorko.
Good luck :)

Thanks for such a prompt reply. You have provided me with hours of quality reading on here over the summer. I can do a straight swap with Michie-Thomas M, so might go ahead and do that :)

Hi Rowsus,

I need to move Hurn out (another one!), and already have Swallow. I feel there is value in downgrading Hirn this week, and taking advantage of price drops to do my 'real' Hurn replacement this week.

So, is bringing in KK 'a week early' and holding fire on picking up another prem advisable?

Thanks in advance

Thanks very much for your time and advice Rowsus.

Yeah I agree that it is probably not with 2 trades to get Thomas in.

Will probably sit tight for now and keep an eye on Kelly, although he started as sub last week he was very impressive when he got on.

If Enright is confirmed out Saturday morning before the GC game, I may reconsider the trades again.

Once again thank-you very much for your time.

Rowsus,

Cheers mate ... appreciate the thoughts. I'm still torn on Dixon. I REALLY want to keep him (if anything to justify picking him in the first place ;) ). Maybe over the next 24 hours we might hear more about the severity of his groin strain, and whether it's a Level 1, 2 or 3. It sounds from what they're saying to be a Level 2 (about 2-3 weeks), which has me concerned.

That, and the fact that I'll have to field both Rohan @ F5 and Impey / Kennedy-Harris @ F6 (urgh, makes me feel sick just thinking about it).

Hey Rowsus, what are your thoughts on Michie and trading him? It's either him/M. Crouch for J.Kelly/Cunningham. Right now Michie>Cunningham most likely although M. Crouch poor JS and likely to be sub, while Josh Kelly looks like he could kill this season. Which trade would you do?

Also am I correct in saying Pavlich>Zorko is a poor trade?

Cheers Rowsus

Hej tracygrims,
