I'm pretty convinced that cunnington, hopper, jones and chesser are bad picks. I have tried a lot of combinations to change them. I think its too hard! Sheezel and giinbey seem to be the only must haves. I might sit for a week. I really don't want to make my side worse.

Just remember that if you sit for a week and next week you decide there are 4+ changes needed to your starting squad you'll have some bigger decisions to make.

Non Callaghan owners, with Jelly out for a week and Perryman injured (not sure for how long), is he now a serious trade in target for this week? cbas could be increasing from the one he had late in the game last weekend and their run is still pretty good.
Not in a rush myself, unless they seem to bring in an obvious wing. There’s talk Rowston will debut, so I assume he’d play inside mid (likely just for 1 game if Kelly is back Round 3), I assume Ward would replace Perryman in the mids, Kennedy replaces Ward’s role in the forward line and someone like Fahey replaces Whitfield.

If he goes 80+ again, he’s going to be hard to ignore at Round 3, but a sub 60 score, I think I’ll resist if it was all wing time again.

EDIT: Oh and 4-6 for Perryman on the injury report, bad hammy!

I don't have Cunnington, Stewart or Jones, but do have Chesser, Jelly, Hopper, Bruhn etc. TBH I have more faith on Hopper being a better pick out of he and Bruhn, but think Ziebell and JHF will prove to be better picks than both Hooper and Bruhn.

My Team is as below:

Docherty, Cumming, Ridley, Ginbey, McKenna, Constable (Wilmot, Cowan)
Bont, Petracca, Jelly, Hopper, Worpel, Callaghan, Ashcorft, Mackenzie (Bytel, Baker, Chesser)
Darcy, Marshall (Martin)
Dunkley, Gulden, Taranto, Rozee, Bruhn, Phillipou (Rategulea, Greene)

As you can see no Sheezel, Phillips, Chandler, Comben, but others seem to be OK (aside from the fact Bytel is out this week. I have 113k in the bank before this week, so was probably looking to do:

Bruhn to Ziebell/JHF
Chesser to Phillips (need this week to cover Jelly)

That would leave all 2/3 trades to target maybe JHF/Ziebell, Sheezel, Chandler/Comben next week from Greene/Baker etc. Seems rash, but we have trades to burn right ;)

One big positive for Callaghan going forward is his crazy fitness right now. When everyone else was struggling he just kept running and picked up key possessions - I have higher hopes for his scoring now because if the ball isn't going back to the centre Finn will get his just by always presenting.

Correct, we picked Fyfe for his easy run, we just thought Saints would be part of that. Old Ross out coached his former team I guess.

Think we have to see how he goes this week. He is not going to get mid time, yet as a forward has shown an ability to score 70--80 in prior years and now has a good run. Mostly likely still goes but less see after this weekend.

For me, If I had Flanders and no Sheezel then he would be the one to trade. role is not great, has a mixed run. should do better this game but expect he is up and down and a slower burn.

Considering Stewart to Cole and will watch Saturday games. Unless I think I want JHF JDG Daicos post Saturday, will maybe look to bring Cogs in on Sunday. Otherwise may have to hold fire till round 3. Jones can sit on bench, warming up a spot for Yeo in round 5 if needed.

Daicos - think gut running outside players are the easiest to tag, not hard to find fit footballers . so will wait to see how Port go trying to curb him without tagging. Bruhn has easier run coming, Hopper has history of +90, all deserve another crack.
I didn't see the game, but what was wrong with the Flanders role? His heat map has him getting touches all over the ground.

Tough start to the year. 1923pts Nothing worse than looking at trading in players from earlier drafts that you second guessed yourself on in the last week or during the 1st round. Going back to my old way of trade hard and early to fix problems after last year being patient with English,

I have lot of corrections to consider. Starting with:
  • Kelly was a punt. I moved from Macrae to Kelly to save some cash for corrections. Has not worked
  • Jones is just bad luck and lack of defenders. Getting rid of Kelly allows me to bring in Young.
  • Ash was a POD option. Watching the game I did not like the look of his role at all. Callaghan gives me back cash.
  • Sheezel looked like another Walsh/Daicos rookie that will be a must have.

Next week assess Chesser, Hopper, Bruhn, Oscar Allen. 36 trades makes going hard early a lot easier.... :p

Is Sheezel a must have?

How many games will North win this year?
How many times will he come up against a side like West Coast?

People worry about N Daicos being tagged off half back but not the same worry with Sheezel and Ziebell?

3 of the 4 North players to score 100+ supercoach point were half backs, Sheezel, Ziebell and McDonald.

My view on Sheezel is that he is a watch with 2 points:
- How will he cope with harder teams?
- How will he fit in if Hall comes back in?

My thoughts:
1. Opponents less likely to tag 1st year rookie.
2. Agree Hall is potential to see Sheezel moved to wing or fwd. However it has been a long time since NM had a ball user of Sheezel quality.
3. Couple of years ago Hall and Ziebell both scored massive points in backline, do not see any reason will not occur again.

The beauty of that role in modern footy is you can score well in a bad side generally.

I don't think Aaron Hall is the type of guy Clarkson will really like.

Echo this... nobody is going to bother tagging a second gamer when they are up by 10 goals.

If a team was going to do a shutdown job on somebody at North it would (should?) be LDU out of the middle.

Just playing Devil's advocate a bit. I definitely don't see Sheezel going 100+ every week. I don't think waiting a week is the worst idea, depending on teams forward structures. But hard to not see him being one of the better scoring rookies on the field in the early rounds.

Do we really need to overthink when it comes to Sheezel?

He is certain to get to 350K+ if he avoids injury.
So he makes ~$160K.

If you have him now great.
If you don't have him you have to spend 1 trade to bring him in and 1 more for the cash so an average of ~$80K per trade.
